Also does anyone know if the scent from wearing these oils lasts as long as commercial perfume?

Answer by Valstupendo
OMG… YES… I all the time instead of perfume (I’m allergic to perfume). I use lavendar all the time because I personally like the smell of it, but make sure you dilute them with a carrier oil such as jojoba first otherwise it may irritate your skin. You can pretty much try any kind or combination you like, but it doesn’t last longer than perfume, sorry.
I have used lavendar for headaches, as well as orange, peppermint and sandalwood… they work for me (just depends if it’s daytime or nightime… lavendar is relaxing so if my headache is at night, it will use that, or peppermint if it’s day because it’s uplifting).
I hope some of this helps.

Can you use aromatherapy oils for your skin/face?

Share

Question by Danielle P: Can you use for your skin/face?
This is the product description: This blend is already pre-diluted and ready for use. The ingredients are pure .

Best answer:

Answer by Essence of Wellbeing
Based on the information you have provided it difficult to make an informed decision, as is no information re the oils in the blend or the percentage make up. – but one of the basics rules of aromatherapy is that sometimes referred to as aromatherapy oils is that they must be diluted to be applied to the skin.

In saying that making your own massage oil\body oil can be a wonderful way of using essential oils, to moisturise and protect your skin in a similar way to a body lotion.

If you are looking to make your own massage\body oil you may find this information of assistance

When making your oil you will need -
· A bottle to make and store your completed oil
· Carrier oil or oils
· Essential oil or oils

Your bottle should ideally be made of glass. You can have a plain cap or some people like to use a pump top for ease in dispensing.

When choosing your carrier oils bear in mind the properties of the oils and your skin type (or the skin type of the person you are making it for). To start with I usually recommend using a plain grapeseed or sweet almond oil. As you experiment you may like to use a combination of vegetables and infused oils to enrich your basic oil blend.

When choosing your essential oils, consider the you want the oil to have and when you intend to use it. Are you planning on a light fresh aroma to use as a body oil after your morning shower? An invigorating oil to massage into muscles before or after sport?

To make your oil blend, take your bottle and place in it up to 4 drops of essential oil for every 10ml of carrier oil you will be using. So in a 50ml bottle use up to 20 drops in total of essential oil, in a 100ml bottle use up to 40 drops. For a massage oil for children or anyone whose health is frail or who has sensitive skin, halve this number. Remember you can use 2 or 3 in your blend but the total number of drops should together not exceed that stated.
Top up your bottle with your chosen carrier oil to the shoulder – this is the part where the bottle just begins to narrow. Put on the cap and shake gently or tip the bottle back and forth to mix the oils together.

And don’t forget to label your creation! Information to note includes the date, the name of the person the oil is for and the purpose of the oil, together with the ingredients. This way you can easily reproduce your blend.

Some recipes to get you started -

End of the Day De-stress Massage\Body Oil
100ml Sweet Almond Oil
15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
5 drops Sandalwood Essential Oil
20 drops Bergamot Essential Oil

Wake Me Up Body Oil
100ml Grapeseed Oil
20 drops Grapefruit Essential Oil
10 drops Petitgrain Essential Oil
5 drops Spearmint Essential Oil

Keys To Using Aromatherapy Oil

Share

Article by Ramone Stevenson

is extracted from wood, seeds, bark, roots, leaves, and flowers. They are natural herbs and plants that are known for their healing powers. works to calm and soothe both the body and the mind. There are many ways and locations to use .

The bath tub is a common place where women go to get a way from it all for a short period of time. Add several drops of aromatherapy oil and soak for at least 20 minutes. Rosemary and Lavender are to help you relax.

Probably the most common method of aromatherapy oil is the art of massage. The oil allows the massagers hands to glide smoothly and easily all over the body. As the oil is absorbed into the skin, the person getting the massage is able to relax. This is a great way to relieve stress and feel rejuvenated. For some people, a massage with aromatherapy oil excites them and increases their sexual urges. A massage with aromatherapy oil is a great way for a couple to spend a romantic evening together.

For someone who suffers from chronic , a compress filled with aromatherapy oils and hot water does wonders. A compress of aromatherapy oil and cold water can help relieve a headache. Inhaling aromatherapy oil can help relieve your sinuses as well as relieve stress. Add a few drops to a bowl of boiling water or to a vaporizer.

There are many ways to create aromatherapy oils. Steam Distillation is used to extract the oil. This process is quick and effective for extracting large amounts of aromatherapy oil in a short amount of time. The use of steam can reduce the potency of some aromatherapy oils.

Hydro Distillation involves using water to boil the plant in an effort of extracting the aromatherapy oil. This method is commonly used for hard herbs and plants including nuts, woods, and roots. You have to be careful with Hydro Distillation because if you allow the water to get too hot or boil the plants and herbs too long your aromatherapy oils will have a burnt smell that isn’t effective.

The newest and most effective way to extract aromatherapy oil is the process of Super Critical Carbon Dioxide Method. Carbon dioxide is used with high pressure to extract the aromatherapy oil. This is very effective and very fast. This method gets the most oils from the plants and herbs. It is also very inexpensive and fast.

The use of aromatherapy oils for physical and metal reasons is not new. It has been used for centuries by many cultures. It is a good idea to get a book on aromatherapy oils or do some research on the internet to find out the for your particular needs. Some help you relax or get rid of stress. Others can make your body feel better. Regardless of how you use it, you can find some relieve from the ailments and the elements with aromatherapy oil.
