I have a fever and I’m afraid of being at the mercy of streptococcal of sorts. I have a history of being susceptible to its worst conditions. I can’t go to the DR because I’m in a foreign county. I need , herbal remedies. Can anyone help me?

Best answer:

I don’t think fever leads to strep throat, I think fever is a result of strep throat.

I’ve read that vervain is used to treat fevers. I’ve never used it but I’m actually going to my store to get some tomorrow. So maybe see if you can get vervain. It is a plant. I think it comes in liquid and pill form.

Hcg Diet Side Effects Questions Answered

Share

Linda asks…

Will the HCG diet ruins the way my body shed pounds?

I usually lose fat in my stomach and other places but not in my butt. Which I love! Usually with diets and I lose fat everywhere while my butt grows… I dont know how that works, genetics I guess . Anyway , Fall semester was a though one for me and I gained a lot of weight and I want to try the HCG diet just for 30 days with healthy eating and exercise to get a push on my weight lost process. I’m worried that the hormones or whatever is in it might mess up the way my body sheds fat ( I.E stomach first, then other parts and in the most extreme case of about 2 but no more than 4 inches from my butt yay.) what do you think? will HCG ruin my proportions? should I shed these pounds the old fashion way for my figure’s sake? Might 30 days of HCG mess with how my body works? what are the side effects of that diet anyways?

Chloe Adisson answers:

is little evidence that the HCG diet works, and if you decide to take the drop (pill) form, don’t expect it to work at all. The drops would not be effective as this method the bio-availability of this product is virtually zero.

Additionally, don’t expect to eat healthy on this diet. When on an HCG diet, you are told to consume a very low calorie diet of about 500 calories. This is why the diet works. I could put you on a candy diet, and if you only consumed 500 calories, you would drop weight.

In all honesty, if you intend on doing a very low calorie diet, you are better off with an appetite suppressant than a chemical that really doesn’t work and is insanely expensive.

As far as your original question, regardless of what supplement you take, your body loses weight according to genetics and will not change.

John asks…

Have you done the HCG Diet?

So I’m thinking about doing the HCG diet. I have a few questions.
1. Have you done this diet before? & what were your results?
2. How old do you have to be to do this diet?
3. Did you feel sick or tired? Or what were the side effects of this diet?
4. I am 170 & i wanna be 150, how many days should i do this diet to lose 20 pounds?
Also, add anymore information you think i should know before starting this diet, ANYTHING will help.
Thank you a ton in advance (:

Chloe Adisson answers:

A 500 calorie per day diet is considered anorexic. Mix it with a hormone from pregnant women’s urine and you get a miracle diet! All over the counter hcg products were announced as illegal and fraudulent by the FDA on January 24, 2011.
Testing concluded that all over the counter oral and injection products on the market have little to no real hcg in them but most a similar synthetic hormone. I was in GNC last week. They carry three brands of hcg drops and not one of them has any hcg in them. The well trained salesman even admitted it when I mentioned it. They contained “similar hormones” or amino acids.
Sort of like I’m going to sell you this Toyota Prius but it is really a Ford Focus but we’re going to put a price tag on it that says it is a Toyota Prius. Excuse me?
Anyone that lost weight especially with the drops did it because they ate fewer calories than they burned. The hcg acted as the placebo to help them lose the weight.
The only approved use for hcg is to increase fertility in both men and women.
Next year will mark 60 years since this fraudulent science was started.
The doctors exploiting this benign hormone with the ability to prescribe injections can’t even agree on how it works. Some say it releases stored fat calories into the system. Others say it acts as an appetite suppressant.
Neither explanation justifies the weight loss in the individuals taking the oral drops with NO hcg in them that still lost weight. I am confident the hcg diet has a 95% failure rate just like every other controversial diet plan out there.
By the way, the expensive “clinical injections” are not covered by insurance since it is not FDA approved. What doctor wouldn’t want to get an “all cash” practice going?

George asks…

Does the HCG diet really work? Is it safe?

I’m looking into trying the HCG Diet! I need feedback! Is it safe? What are they side effects? What’s the best website to purchase it? Does it really work? Please Help me figure it out. I have tried everything. I would like people who have really done it and knows what they are talking about. Thanks!

Chloe Adisson answers:

It is not an easy diet. If you’re expecting to take the HCG & magically lose your weight… You’re in for a huge surprise. You have to be militant to the diet in order to get results. You cannot cheat without dire consequences.

I just finished a 40 day round (to get the baby weight off) and lost 25lbs. My mom is on it & has lost about 30lbs in 30 days. My aunt has had great results too.

You really need to research it. Read the book Pounds & Inches. It’s the original diet. If you decide to do it, you’ll want to find a reputable company to get the HCG from. Do not get it from overseas. And I wouldn’t advise getting it from anyone advertising as an answer on here.

Ken asks…

Does the HCG hormone increase chances of becoming pregnant?

i do not wanna hear any bullshit about how the hcg diet is a scam or doesn’t work, because it is the only diet that has ever worked for me and i love it, but i am married and my husband and i are trying to get pregnant, he is getting back from deployment soon and i’ve been on the HCG diet off and on sense august, i looked up hcg side effects online and one was “increase chances of conception” and multiple pregnancy… could this be true? i’m also taking prenatal vitamins to make my hair grow, but are my chances of getting pregnant higher or significantly increased because of the hcg drops i’m taking?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Ive done the HCG diet many times over the past8 yrs,and YES !! I have gotten prego very quick…..i believe this is very true. Do you get a positive preg test when you take hcg shots?

James asks…

Has anyone completed the HCG diet?

I am curious about the diet? Did you have any side effects? Did you do the injection or the oral drops? Any information (good or bad) would be greatly appreciated.

Chloe Adisson answers:

Not many. People can lose weight, but the loss isn’t due to either taking or injecting HCG. There is no scientific evidence supporting HCG as a weight loss strategy.

Scientists have actually investigated this “miracle cure for obesity.”
Not only is the diet no more effective than calorie restriction alone, the HCG also doesn’t affect hunger or other more subjective factors of dieting.

Even experts in the supplement industry say the products aren’t legal and don’t work. Andrew Shao of the Council for Responsible Nutrition, an industry group, says HCG is “not considered a legal dietary ingredient and therefore cannot be sold as a dietary supplement. I am not aware of any scientific evidence that supports its use when taken orally.”

Because and rendered ineffective, he says.

James asks…

It doesn’t matter which brand, they are all out just to take your money so it doesn’t matter which lotion you use.

Steven asks…

hCG diet drops, questions about losing weight?

Ok, i’m 18, 5′ 6″ and I weigh 180, I’m wanting to lose 40lbs.. If i take the hcg drops do the 500 calorie diet, and i’m lifting weights and walking. How much weight will I be able to lose in the first week??

Has anyone had success with doing the drops?

Chloe Adisson answers:

According to the “protocol” for this diet you are supposed to do minimal with such a low caloric intake.
A 500 calorie per day diet is considered anorexic. Mix it with a hormone from pregnant women’s urine and you get a miracle diet!
All over the counter hcg products were announced as illegal and fraudulent by the FDA on January 24, 2011. So the question is are you willing to risk your with an extreme diet treatment based on testimonial evidence as opposed to clinical research evidence, and the statements from doctors in this all cash business?

David asks…

What would happen if you drank soda or milk with the hcg diet drops?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Why are you drinking soda if you are diabetic?
Please throw the bogus HCG drops out thank you.

Joseph asks…

What lotion is it ok to use while using the hcg diet drops?

My sister said lotion wasn’t even necessary but I have really dry skin I need the name of any lotion that I can use

Chloe Adisson answers:

I’m doing the HCG diet right now following the 21 Day program from http://prohcgdiet.com As per the instruction I got, you can use lotion and make up during the HCG protocol. With all of your personal care and beauty products, you need to check the ingredients and avoid any products the contain food oils. Most solid deodorants contain castor oil, which is not allowed…. Currently I am using Pantene products for the hair. I changed my lotion to Neutrgena oil free face lotion but use this for hand and body lotion as well. I changed my soap to liquid Zest. I did not change my shave gel either. No issues that I can see and I get all products at Wal-Mart.

Donald asks…

HCG diet drops. Is there a difference in strength cause on ebay theres lots of different prices?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Better no to waste your money.
“500-calories per day is severely restrictive! In fact, it is not enough calories to support normal brain function. Your body will compensate by using stores of glycogen, protein (muscle) and some fat, which lowers your resting metabolism. Before you can lose true weight, you will be so irritable, lightheaded, and cranky that you’ll reach for whatever food you can get your hands on and have a field day.

There is no scientific evidence supporting HCG as a weight loss strategy. The FDA has required all marketing and advertising of HCG to state the following: “HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective adjunctive therapy in the treatment of obesity. There is no substantial evidence that it increases weight loss beyond that resulting from caloric restriction, that it causes a more attractive or ‘normal’ distribution of fat, or that it decreases the hunger and discomfort associated with calorie-restricted diets.”

When is the best time to start the HCG drops diet?

I heard its best to wait until after your period to start the drops so you can get a full 21 days of it in your system. Is this true or can you start the drops anytime?

All of the drops are bogus based on a sampling by the FTC. If you read the label it will state the product “does not contain any hormone” or contains a “similar amino acid”

Susan asks…

Is this supposed to happen with the hcg diet drops from GNC?

Ok, so I’m 13. I started the hcg diet two days ago, on Sunday. I did the 2 loading days, and actually lost 2 pounds since Ive started. Today, about 1:00, I weighed myself, right after lunch, and I had gained weight. will it go away tomorrow morning?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Why are you on a diet at 13?

Mark asks…

what do you think about the HCG diet drops?

i need real testimonies! i want to try this diet i heard it was very successful, i heard good and bad things about it. i also did my research and it proves me rite on how successful it is.

Chloe Adisson answers:

My sister and I ordered the couples program so we could split the price and we only had to pay $65 each so that was a great deal to me. I started the diet on March 26 and its is my 5th day and I have already lost 6lbs. The first two days(out of the 5) were gorging out on all my favorite food and I only gained 1 lb . You really have to stick to the foods that are required. The 3rd day was really hard I was so hungry but it is getting easier each day. I am very pleased with the results and I cant wait to weigh again in the morning. I have been on diets all my life and failed at each one of them. I started out at 215 but now I am down to 209.So actually I have lost 6lbs in 2 days . I don’t know how I made it the first two days but I have and I am not giving up. It is too soon to know if the drops are what is really working or the 500 calories. All I know is I am losing weight!

Lizzie asks…

Doesn’t the HCG diet drops come from pregnant women?

They make the drops and shots from the hcg hormone found in the urine of pregnant women.
If pregnant women put on weight during pregnancy how would that hormone make you lose weight?

Chloe Adisson answers:

All over the counter HCG products were banned as fraudulent by the FDA three weeks ago.
I’m not buying the Hcg makes just baby stuff.
Why do so many women have trouble losing the extra pounds added during pregnancy?
Why do they have extra pounds after pregnancy if the Hcg tells the body to release stored fat supplies?
Give me a break!

Detoxify Or Die Questions Answered

Share

Lizzie asks…

Can i put water conditioner in plain tap water and put fish in it?

will they die if i don’t wait 3 weeks for the water to detoxify itself? or can i fill it up, put conditioner in, and put a convict in? without it dieing.
oh and i Live in the seattle area so the water is pretty good.

Chloe Adisson answers:

Yes.
What you should do is treat the tap water with prime, stress coat, amquel plus, Weco Instant DeChlor or any other conditioner that will make tap water safe for fish.
Your gonna need to remove chlorine, chloramine, and heavy metals that can be toxic to your fish.
I personally use and prefer weco instant dechlor since you only add to tiny drops per gallon and then stir it a little and then let it sit for 10 minutes and then Pour the treated tap water in your tank. The best part is the little ounce last about 1000 gallons and it was only 2.50 dollars at my local pet store.

Sandra asks…

What do I do if my goldfish has been poisoned by chlorine?

I just bought a new aquarium, goldfish, gravel, everything but forgot to add the thing that makes chlorine go away. He has only been exposed to the chlorine for at most 2 hours and I realized this when he stopped moving but he’s still breathing. I put him into a bowl of detoxified water and I’m trying to get him to recover. What can I do or is he already going to die from being exposed?
He survived.

Chloe Adisson answers:

First, before adding fish you should of cycled your tank. Since you already added your fish you must do a cycle with fish. Learn about the nitrogen cycle here: http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm

The link above is very helpful. I would get water conditioner as soon as you can and add it to his tank. Then it should be more safe than before, although it isn’t cycled.

A common goldfish needs 75 gallons when fully grown, and a fancy goldfish needs 30 gallons with double filtration, (ex: 30 gallon tank, 60 gallon filter)

Good Luck, and Hope this Helps.

Ruth asks…

9 days till the wedding and I’ve broken out in a red rash!?

It’s 9 days until my brother’s wedding, and I’ve broken out in a rash of red dots all over my chest and neck. I thought they were pimples, so I tried using more acne medicine (I have oily, troublesome skin to begin with) and it just made it worse. I tried using only dove soap and aloe to give my skin so time to heal, it just got worse. I tried cucumbers, cortizone cream, every home remedy I could find online. I’ve even been drinking a gallon of water a day to try and detoxify my system. NO DICE!
I’m supposed to perform at the ceremony and my dress is strapless (and beautiful) but I’m ready to throw it away and wear a bag over my head.
Any tips on either getting the rash to lessen/disappear or any types of makeup that will cover it without making it worse?

Thanks!!

Chloe Adisson answers:

Use dermablend make up you can get it at ULTA

Mark asks…

any fruitarians around?

A friend sent this to me ~ Pretty Interesting!

Eating Fruit – this opened my eyes.

Dr Stephen Mak is a friend of mine at the BSF course. He treats terminal ill cancer patients by “un-orthodox” way and many patients recovered. He explains to me before he is using solar energy to clear the illnesses of his patients. He believes on healing in the body against illnesses. See the article below.

Thanks for the email on fruits and juices. It is one of the strategies to heal cancer. As of late, my success rate in curing cancer is about 80%. Cancer patients shouldn’t die. The cure for cancer is already found. It is whether you believe it or not. I am sorry for the hundreds of cancer patients who die under the conventional treatments.
Thanks and God bless.
Dr Stephen Mak

EATING FRUIT…

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It’s not as easy as you think. It’s important to know how and when to eat.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.
If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let’s say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.

In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil….

So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining — every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc — actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, , energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice – drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don’t even drink juice that has been heated up. Don’t eat cooked fruits because you don’t get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE : Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene — the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this?? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this ‘sludge’ reacts with the acid, it will break down

Chloe Adisson answers:

This sounds very suspicious. I do not disagree for a moment that fruit is very good stuff. However, much of the reasoning in this sounds a lot like pseudoscience and quackery.
Examples:

“Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this??”
No. Frankly I am cannot. The causes of cancer are very complex and to make such simplistic statements is nonsensical.

“Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.”
These are extremely large and general claims. Since they seem too good to be true, they probably are.

“If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight. ”
As for the last point. Note also that claims like ‘happiness’ and ‘health’ are very vague and would be difficult to prove anyway.

“If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it.”
Why should it need to mix with the saliva? Why would that help? Saliva breaks down starch into sugar. It also begins the process of breaking down fats. Most fruits have insignificant starch and fat content. So, what would saliva do to be so beneficial.

I must say that I tend to eat fruit before eating anything else anyway. Not because of all this nonsense. Just because, while I am getting the water boiling for macaroni, toasting bread etc, I eat it as a snack. Will doing so magically ward off cancer? I doubt it.

Mandy asks…

Why are humans the only species that pollutes to the detriment of life? Can’t blame that on God can we?

Since all other life on this planet is unaware of wastes they create,…….then why is it never a detriment to earths ecological system?

It is a living mechanical circulatory system isn’t it? It shows there is an organized design of a Supreme Creator.

Most animals and fish contribute waste to their environments that are essentially the same as human waste (fecal matter laden with bacteria and reduced compounds). If the population of an environment exceeded the capability of the environment to neutralize or at least tolerate those wastes, certain organisms will begin to die. This limit is known as the “carrying capacity” of the environment. In general, nature is wise enough to not naturally reach this limit in most instances, such that most systems can self regulate themselves and avoid reaching this limit.
There are examples of individual organisms that can excrete specific pollutants or toxins into an environment, usually as a defense mechanism. There are also plenty of examples of organisms that can detoxify and store pollutants from an environment in their bodies, making the overall environment “safer” (until the organism dies, at which point some toxins can be re-released to the environment).

Chloe Adisson answers:

People always think they know best until they find out they have made a total mess of things. Then they still persist oftentimes. Selfishness and greed often cause these problems and the foolish thought that everything will sort itself out. A radical rethink is often what is needed and appropriate action to follow.

The LORD God has given us such a beautiful world yet so many do not value it until it’s too late.

Herbal Treatment For Adhd Questions Answered

Jenny asks…

ADHD diagnosis?

My son has recently been diagnosed with ADHD. He was prescribed Ritalin at the drop of a hat, but after reading about the medication, and seeing the look of horror on people’s faces when I told them, I have decided he wont take it. I have ordered something called Synaptol, which is some herbal treatment for ADHD, it sounds good, but I have no idea. My son is also going to visit a complementary centre tomorrow, but I just wondered if anyone has any views or can recommend anything I can try. I dont want to go down the Ritalin road, it sounds like a really gruesome drug.

Very long answer.. And I promise it is not a cut and paste quickie.. (I hate those)

First of all… Awesome :) good for you!
Finally a parent on this planet with some common sense.
Drugs are drugs and more parents should be encouraging their kids to stay away from them..
I am certainly not a doctor, but I can’t understand the logic of giving a brain stimulant to a person with hyperactivity issues.
A child has a brain that is naturally growing and developing.. Adding a bunch of synthetic chemcals seems to only complicate matters. The behavior may change for the better.. But does the improvement justify the potential damage? Personally, I don’t think it does. I am sure are a small percentage of kids out that need some kind of drastic treatment… Little things like not cleaning up your room when asked to, or not doing well on schoolwork should not be interpretated as an indicaton that medical treatment options are mandatory and risky steps should be taken immediately.
Most behavioral issues fall under the responsibility of the parent or teacher, but it seems that psychiatrists are far too willing to offer everyone the easy way out of this responsibility by dropping a label on these kids and drugging them up so they will conform. And that is just sick.
I was doing some research for my sister and found another option for online while I was looking through alternative medicines for my nephew last year.. It is probably very similar to what you have found.

He is 13 now.. Seems to be doing better. A lot of his issues are stress related.. His father has been in the service and away from home for the last 3 years.. It is rough on him. He also has some kind of odd dietary abnormality.. Naturally sensitive to certain foods. He is a very healthy kid with a great personality :)

I will also throw you a link to read up on some of the prescriptions that are being offered to children for a variety of afflictions. It is somewhat jaded and loaded with propaganda from the opposite perspective of the drug manufacturers. Really is a fascinating debate. And the questions left unanswered is the reason I am so against the idea that medication is solution.

The reality is that nothing can be done to cure the problem until the true cause for the problem can be determined. And right now everybody is guessing.. The drug companines are rushing to convince the public that they have the answer to it without a shred of conclusive evidence as proof of their statements. The FDA that approves the medications is majorly sponsored by the drug companies for their funding. (blatent conflict of interest). The psychaitrists are stuck in a position where if they don’t prescribe something, they are taking the risk that the parents will lose confidence in that entire section of the medical field. Everyone involved with the debate is horribly tainted by money.. And the kids are typically left with the negative consequences for the decisions made by the adults with the moral obligation to protect them. Alternative medicine may or may not be as effective.. But at least it is . That makes more sense to me as a first option.
I encourage you to get a couple opinions before you choose any course of action for your child.. The treatment options out there right now are very shady for these types of things. Not enough is known about it.
Research all you can on it.. There is a lot of good information out there from the perspective of the parents that are in a similar situation. Both sides of the debate have valid points.

A lot of it is a shift in society .. 20 years ago, the general perception would have been.. ‘ahh.. It’s ok.. He’s just a kid being a kid’ .. And today it is more like ‘wow.. Your kid is a spoiled brat.. You should really do something about it’
Same child.. Different decade.
Experimental drugs may always be an option, but try everything else first.. If an adult wants to be irresponsible and ruin their lives by being a drug addict.. So be it.. I am also a parent.. And my daughter would have to be VERY out of control for me to even consider it. Dangerous and destructive, yes.. I would consider it.. Anything less, no way.

In the interest of fairness, I will also give you the medical side of things and leave you to make your own informed decision..

This website will give you the clinical perspective on the affliction .. And symptom/treatment/prognosis information

http://www.drugs.com/condition/attention-deficit-disorder.html

This website will give you all of the prescription information for every drug that is FDA approved to treat ADD/ADHD.

Yes, there are a lot of things that anybody can say against what I have written.. But, you don’t have to be a doctor to understand that when the negative side effects of a drug show a 400-600% increased chance of occurence over placebo, you are taking an unnecessary risk. When that statistic comes down to reasonable levels and can be independently proven.. My opinion will change dramatically.

Mary asks…

what is the best known nonmedicinal treatment for ADHD?

herbal or nonherbal treatments for ADHD

Chloe Adisson answers:

A great deal of benefit is gained by removing all additives and preservatives from the diet.

There have been studies done to show that 80% of children with ADHD make huge improvements just by changing diet.

It means cutting out all fizzy drinks, all colourants (they are in many foods and drinks) , especially sunshine yellow. All additives.

Just use natural fresh foods, meat, fish, fruit and vegetables.

Laura asks…

What is the best alternative treatment for ADHD?

Herbal only. Liver, gal bladder cleanse. No drugs. Specific products please. Hoping to shorten my research a little.
Stop arguing that cleanses are bad. They are great if you know what you are doing. The right ones do work, unlike drugs that cure symptoms only. Cure your illness, not hide it.
Yes there is such a thing. I agree that usually it is bad parenting, in which this is somewhat. As a Foster parent I know your feeling all too well
True ADHD is usually caused by the mother eating and drinking too much sugar and caffeine. Stop drink mountain dew and whatever while pregnant. Stop smoking/drinking, dying hair. Sacrifice a little for your baby.

Chloe Adisson answers:

There have actually been a lot of studies that have shown that Fish Oil can help with ADD/ADHD. It seems too simple, and that may be one reason it wasn’t really looked at closely for this, but I wasn’t surprised it would help when I thought about it. The EPA and DHA in Fish Oil help with all sorts of things including heart health, skin health, and brain health. There was a good article at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-391503/Fish-oil-calms-children-better-Ritalin.html that covers some of this as well.
Give it a try… It’s economical, safe, and easy. Just make sure that the company you get it from uses Molecular Distillation because that’s currently the only safe way to remove any trace contaminants of any heavy metals. Of course, if you aren’t sure about the dosage or the benefits, you may want to consult with a holistic doctor, as they may have other additional options available to them.

There are also a lot of people who have found some relief from limiting sugar, artificial colors/flavorings, and going with less (or no) processed food to take away those possible causes as well. From research I’ve done, Fish Oil tends to help more, but both work even better together. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Donald asks…

ADHD herb called “alphanie” (sp?)?

I heard a doctor on TV talking about an herbal treatment for ADD/ADHD. He pronounced it “alphanie” but I don’t know the proper spelling, so I can’t look up any information about it. Has anyone heard of this treatment? Do you know how it is properly spelled? Thanks!

Chloe Adisson answers:

Not sure, but I’ve found this:

“Herbs and Supplements. A number of parents resort to alternative remedies as an alternative to psychostimulants and other drugs. These products include- as St. John? ‘ s wort, ginkgo biloba, panax ginseng, melatonin, and pine bark extract. Based on existing evidence, however, none can be recommended, particularly for children.

Generally, manufacturers of herbal remedies and dietary supplements do not need FDA approval to sell their products. Just like a drug, herbs and supplements can affect the body’s chemistry, and therefore have the potential to produce side effects that may be harmful. There have been a number of reported cases of serious and even lethal side effects from herbal products. Always check with your doctor before using any herbal remedies or dietary supplements.”

There’s lots of sites on the net selling invented ‘cures’ to concerned parents. These are nothing more than modern snake oil, so be careful.

Daniel asks…

A miracle treatment?

My 5 yo son has been diagnosed with ADHD-combined type and ODD recently. Its been recommended to us to put him on medication. I have been doing some reading on the different types of available medications and I have to say, they ALL scare me! The side effects are atrocious with some of these medications. So, I have done some searching and came accross a herbal treatment called “Focus ADHD“. What caught my eye is the tons of testimonials posted on the site for this drug, and some of them (the testimonials) brought me to tears. Has anyone tried this herbal supplement/treatment? If so, did it work well? Did it have any side effects? Also, has anyone had TRUE success with any of the traditional meds prescribed for ADHD (such as Ritalin, Strattera, etc.)? Any or help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!
Some more info–This product comes with a “dietary strategy” for parents, and tons of parental advice. In addition to taking the supplement, it says to make the following diet changes-eliminate refined sugars, soft drinks, artificial preservatives, artificial colors and “bad fats” (like trans-fat). It also recommends plenty of and claims to be 100% natural, and completely not addictive, its safe enough to take forever if need be. I also have made a doctor’s appointment for Monday morning to discuss this product. Judging by the great answers I have gotton so far, this supplement is definitely worth a try. Thank you so much!

Chloe Adisson answers:

Yes, diet is really important. Also, less time in front of the tv, computer, playing games etc.
Although it is disputed by some people now, I still believe white sugar, especially at the rate north americans consume it, is not a healthy thing. Many people are also reactive to food dyes, artificial chemicals, preservatives etc.
I’m so glad to hear you are not going the pharmaceutical route.
Please watch the eye opening video below, you may want to send it to your friends. As well as school officials, who have no business in making a medical diagnosis.
But to actually answer your question, I am not familiar with Focus ADHD.
