How To Get A Firm Belly

Share

It seems that we place a lot of importance on taut, flat stomachs. Each day, advertisements promise to help us “Get a firm belly”, or “Get sculpted abs”. Whatever they don’t reveal is the fact that stomach fat is not only unattractive, it’s hazardous to your health.V:0

Numerous studies have found a web link between belly flab and high blood pressure levels, high-cholesterol, heart problems, and diabetes type 2 symptoms. Measure your waist to find out when you have a dangerous level of stomach fat. For ultimate health, men must have a waist circumference below 40 inches. Women must have a waist circumference below 35 inches.

Below are a few proven techniques to assist you have a firm belly and lower dangerous belly fat:

Exercise, Eat right

Exercise doesn’t must be done in a gym. It is possible to burn calories while you participate in activities which you consider fun or fulfilling. For instance, gardening burns hundreds of calories each hour. Team sports, like flag football, burn much more. Swimming is also a great fat-burner, and fun on top of that. You might like to do volunteer work, or just take very long walks down nature trails.

Cardio exercise will kick your fat-burning metabolism into overdrive. All it requires is persistence; if you’re able to find an activity you want, and stay with it, the pounds will melt off. You’ll want to vary your routine for maximum calorie burning, and also to defend against boredom.

There are many exercises that can be done to obtain a firm belly. The American Council on Exercise did a study to discover which exercises targeted the abs most effectively. Their findings? Supine bicycle, captain’s chair leg lifts, and vertical leg crunches work the abs harder than any exercise. Twisting crunches and exercise ball crunches were other fair ones. Try doing those exercises many times weekly to obtain a firm belly and whittle your waistline. A web search will generate detailed step-by-step tutorials for each exercise.

You can find foods that can help you get a firm belly, too. Sugary carbs contribute to belly fat build-up, but foods high in protein and fiber are slenderizing. Choose a regime comprised mostly of complex carbs, lean protein sources, and unsaturated fats. South Beach is really a classic example, and other alike diets have come on the market lately.

Learn how to Relax

Who would have thought that one could get yourself a firm belly when you relax? Possibly by using yoga. Yoga includes a two-fold impact on our bellies. First, it reduces high stress levels conducive to weight gain. Stress-induced extra weight often leads to excess stomach fat. Reducing your stress level can provide you with a flatter stomach and decrease your risk for a lot of diseases.

Yoga also tones the stomach muscles. Look for a yoga routine which includes supine poses as well as other postures that actually work the abdominal muscles. Check out a yoga DVD from your local library, or search for free instructional videos online. You’ll be able to tell immediately if your particular pose targets the stomach area. To obtain a firm belly faster, design your personal routine using the very best belly-busting poses.

As you have seen, it requires a little effort to acquire a firm belly — nevertheless the rewards are well worth the while.

Mediterranean Diet – Pros And Cons Of The Mediterranean Lifestyle

Share

What is the all about and what are its benefits and drawbacks? The Mediterranean can basically be attributed to the recent recognition that of those living in Europe, those in the Mediterranean live longest on average. Why might this be, you ask? Well, researchers believe that the secret lies in their . While the Mediterranean is not a concrete plan like South Beach or Atkins, and the diets of those countries within the region differ by certain degrees, there are still certain traits that have been found to be universal.

First off, in the Mediterranean, there is a large consumption of fruits, vegetables, potatoes, cereals, beans, seeds, nuts, and bread. Secondly, olive oil is commonly used for cooking and dressings. Thirdly, there is a moderate consumption of fish but little red meat. Fourth, there is a low to moderate amount of full fat cheeses and yogurt that is consumed. And contrary to popular belief, there is only a moderate consumption of wine that is usually only had during meals. Also, there is a strong reliance on seasonal produce. And lastly, those living in the Mediterranean live an active lifestyle which is vital for complete state of fitness.

So, what are some of the benefits to this Mediterranean lifestyle? In a recent 4 year study, the diets of over 22,000 Greeks were studied and the closer they adhered to a traditional Greek diet, the less likely they were to die from either heart disease or cancer. Overall, the traditionalists found themselves 25% less likely to die during the 4 year study period, which suggests that adherents of traditional diet die later rather then sooner. In comparison to Americans, Greeks are 20% less likely to die from coronary artery disease and are 33% less likely to develop cancer. Is there a solid reasoning behind this increased protection from heart disease and cancer? Yes, and the reason lies in their consumption of olive oil and oily fish such as sardines, which contain, in the case of olive oil, monounsaturated fats while the fish contains polyunsaturated fats called omega-3 fatty acids. Both can help protect your heart. Furthermore, the large consumption of fruits and vegetables like tomatoes will further reinforce your body against cancer and heart disease by providing plenty of valuable antioxidants.

So, are there any downsides to this Mediterranean diet? All in all, no, but if you find yourself active, eat a good bit more protein throughout the day. They recommend eating fish, eggs and poultry a few times a week. I’d have some good protein with every meal just to make sure all of the bases are covered. One of the only issues that people will be confronted with is it requires frequent cooking, and if you are too busy or lazy to do that then you will only be gleaning some of its benefits. Also, this “diet” is hard to criticize since it is not as restrictive and regimented as Atkins and others are. To me, that only creates shortcomings which translates into nutritional imbalances. So, apply the protein-enhanced Mediterranean principle to the concept of eating 5 small meals a day and you’ll truly be living a life fit for a Greek.

Hcg Diet Tops In Diet Comparison

Share

When you are thinking about how to , one of the best things you can do is a comparison to find out the pros and cons of some of the most popular diets. Many plans are nothing more than fad diets which appear briefly and soon disappear because their results are either inconsistent or non-existent.

If you want to lose weight, do yourself a favor and not start any diet without researching how it works, the foods you can eat, the average weight loss, and whether or not dieters keep it off long term. In most cases, keeping the weight off is the hardest part of dieting.

If you are obese and need to lose weight quickly for health concerns, you might be surprised at the results when you do a diet comparison. For instance, Weight Watchers, the largest weight loss program in the world, does not have high numbers when it comes to the total pounds lost per individual.

In one diet comparison study, reported in Science Daily in July, 2008, Weight Watcher dieters lost an average of nine pounds in twelve weeks, most of it lean muscle tissue rather than excess fat. In another study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Weight Watchers dieters lost an average of eleven pounds over two years. Diet comparison studies also indicate that only 5% of Weight Watcher participants keep the weight off for five years or more.

If you are seeking to lose a large amount of weight, the Weight Watchers diet comparison results will seem somewhat frustrating. Nine pounds isn’t going to be significant or motivating for someone who is obese. The results are not much different on the Jenny Craig diet, South Beach, Atkins, or other such diets.

If losing nine pounds after three months of dieting isn’t your preference, there is one choice with much faster and long-term results. The is an inexpensive weight loss program you can do at home. It is designed especially for people who need to lose a good amount of weight in a short period of time and keep it off after the plan is finished.

The HCG diet was developed by a medical doctor named A.T.W. Simeons in the 1950s. He researched and pioneered a low calorie diet combined with HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) for efficient weight loss. If you do a diet comparison with the HCG diet, you will find many positives. Not only will you lose one to two pounds in the first week and then an average of a half to one pound a day, but as HCG works with the hypothalamus it specifically targets excess fat, not lean tissue.

Carb Diets Craze

Share

Many of the longest lasting crazes in recent years have been carb diets. Atkins was probably the most popular, but South Beach and others have gained in popularity. While these are not as popular as they once were, they are still used by many dieters. The basic idea of carb diets is that if you reduce your carb intake, your body will have to resort to using proteins and burning stored fat for energy. This type of is said to stop the cycle of storing carbs and sugars as body fat, which is a huge problem for some people.

Carb diets can be dangerous if not done correctly. It is never advisable to start any of the carb diets, or any diet for that matter, without talking to your doctor. There may be risks you may not be aware of, and certain medical conditions may make it impossible for you to follow one of the carb diets without some sort of unhealthy side effect.

When I first heard of Atkins, they advertised all the foods you could eat on their plan. Eggs, steak, and cheese were all foods that you could eat. Many people dove into this diet with great delight, without bothering to read up on the particulars of the diet. As with all carb diets, you have to watch your fat intake. Eating tons of greasy steaks, and foods fried in fat, will clog your arteries. These carb diets don't actually say you can do this, but many don't realize this. In most cases, you need to choose lean meats, watch the grease, and take in carbs in the form of veggies.

You don't have to follow one of the mainstream carb diets in order to benefit from the idea behind them. You can cut carbs from your own diet, and make healthier choices without falling headlong into a fad diet. Take some time to learn the difference between what are considered good carbs and bad carbs. Good carbs include fruits and veggies, and whole wheat breads and cereals. Bad carbs are mostly refined sugars and white breads. Carb diets urge you to take the natural approach, eat more protein and stay away from refined and processed foods. This is good advice for anyone, but you should talk to your doctor about the particulars, and make sure you are healthy enough to follow the diet you have in mind.

Carb diets may never go away, and with good reason. Many have lost weight on them, and continue to keep that weight off. Just remember to get all the information you can, and talk to your doctor before you begin. You may even want to join a community or online program to keep you motivated and on the right track. The best of the carb diets won't help you if you can't stick with it.
