Detoxify Liver Questions Answered

Share

Ken asks…

Detoxify Liver?

What is a reasonably good way to detoxify my liver? I feel I have some questionable symptoms (chronic rashes, sinus infections, breakouts, fatique, strange food reaction, strange taste in my mouth all the time) that may mean I need to take care of my liver (?) Anyone know a way I can do that?

Chloe Adisson answers:

I don’t see any way in which these very vague symptoms could be related to liver disease. Perhaps you became scared after reading something about liver detox? Sorry, but there simply is no justification for detoxification.

Chris asks…

How does the liver detoxify blood and maintain glucose balance?

Chloe Adisson answers:

The liver takes toxins that our body makes or that
come into the body and converts them to a non
toxic form that the body can easily dispose of.

Let take alcohol, as an example.
The liver usings it’s cells enzymes, will convert
alcohol first into acetaldehyde, then into acetate,
and then into CO2 and water.

What happens when a person consumes too much
alcohol, the liver cannot convert it fast enough pass
the first stage and it becomes toxic to the liver cells
and can cause damage to them.
This is an example of a possible toxin coming into
the body.

Now for an example of a toxin made in the body.
When we use proteins in our body, a byproduct is
formed. That is ammonia. The liver would normally
take this ammonia and convert it in urea for the kidneys
to pick up and remove it from the body in the urine.
People who have liver disease where the cells of the
liver have died off, this function doesn’t happen
efficiently and so the ammonia stays in the blood and
goes into the brain and causes confusion and disorientation.

So, you can see that the liver handles toxins in the body.
…..
When we eat, the are broken down into fats,
carbohydrates, and proteins (amino acids). These
are absorbed into the blood from the intestines and
go to the liver. Our cells use glucose as its main
source of energy. So, the liver will supply this
glucose to the body, even by converting the carbohydrates
first, the proteins second and the fats third into glucose.
If the cells have enough energy, the liver will then convert
the glucose into glycogen and be stored in the liver till
it is needed. It is converted back to glucose when the
cells need more energy (usually between meals)

.

Mark asks…

Im in the Uk what type of Milk thistle would you recommend to detoxify liver and support bile production? The?

ones from the supermarkets dont contain enough of the active ingredient.
thanks

Chloe Adisson answers:

Total poppycock. The liver is the organ that deals with toxins, you cannot detoxify it! Unfortunately the whole concept of detox is an urban myth. It is based solely on the irrational rants of constipated Edwardians who refused to eat vegetables as the considered them food only fit for the lower classes to consume. As a result they had little option but to spend their time taking laxatives and purgatives and giving themselves enemas. Provided you have not already done too much damage to your body, your liver and kidneys will deal with problem of removing toxins from your body, as that was what they were designed to do. After that, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life and you can start afresh.

Steven asks…

What is the best way to detoxify ones liver? And what are the benefits?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Dandelion tea works wonders on a sluggish liver (the primary filtering organ of the body), gall bladder (which produces bile to assist the digestion of fatty foods) and spleen ( an organ producing new red blood cels), and it also encourages bowel action and reduces fluid retention. Drinking Dandelion tea is one of the most effective ways to detox your body, because it stimulates digestive enzymes and bile to allow the easier metabolism of fatty foods.

Dandelion leaves, alfalfa, aspargus, celery and vitamin B6 can all work as natural diuretics.

Dandelion tea is excellent for ridding the body of excess fluid because, as the tea leaves contain high amounts of potassium, the body is not depleted of this important mineral through the diuretic effect of the tea?

Ensure, for therapeutic purposes, that you buy organic Dandelion leaf as the commercial or teabag varieties have had so much of their essential oils pulverised from them. Another reason to use organic is one of the properties of the Dandelion plant is to absorb metal pollutants from the atmosphere ~ as such organic really is essential. Add honey to taste if you like as the taste can be quite bitter ….. Or lemons or limes if you like the tartness?;

2 – 3 teaspoons per teapot would be sufficient?By buying the organic variety, the essential oils are still so potent that the spent leaves could be reused 2 – 3 times ~ simply refill the pot with hot water and rebrew for 15 – 20 minutes.?

Limit your intake of Dandelion tea to a period of say 2 – 3 weeks at a time …….. Have rest periods in between using it ?

Perhaps this link may be of use to you ~

http://www.detoxaustralia.com.au/supplementing_your_.htm

Water, water water …. Ensure that you also hydrate your body properly with at least 2 – 3 litres of water per day as nothing substitutes for pure fresh water?

Try to cut back on dehydrating drinks such as coffee, tea, sodas and soft drinks and alcohol (if you drink any of these) as they will not only dehydrate you terribly but also rob you of your essential B complex of vitamins.

Take a multi B complex supplement also…. To support healthy immune, neural and digestive functioning…… Great for bolstering your body to deal with life’s every day stressy situation …. Get one including all the B’s ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 andB12 etc. As they all work best as a group. Don’t buy any of the B complex of vitamins individually but rather as a whole group, unless specifically told to do so buy a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath ?

Please also ensure that you consult with a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath or herbalist before using Dandelion herb if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and do not use on infants or young children ?

Try to cut out all junky and pre packaged foods and eat food as freshly and as close to its natural state as you possibly can…… Pump your intake of leafy and vegies (rich in magnesium and foods rich in magnesium will help to bolster healthy nerve and muscle functioning thus aiding in any issues with constipation you may have), vegies, fresh fruits, wholegrain cereals and breads, cold water fishes (also rich in magnesium) and organic lean meats ?

Hope this info helps you a bit?

Good health to you & yours?

CHEERS
?

Betty asks…

what is the best way to detoxify your liver?

Chloe Adisson answers:

The best (and easiest and cheapest!) thing you can do is to eat a diet of at least 75% raw foods. (Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, fresh juices, lots of filtered water.)

Keep the colon clean to facilitate toxin elimination from the liver: Eating plenty of raw fibrous vegetables, like carrots, celery and cauliflower, will sweep out your colon nicely.

Foods high in Vitamin K (leafy greens, alfalfa sprouts) are especially beneficial.

Eat plenty of raw almonds, Brazil nuts, coconut, walnuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, or pumpkin seeds. These contain arginine, an amino acid which helps to detoxify ammonia, a by-product of protein digestion which accumulates in the liver.

Avoid processed foods, red meat, alcohol, caffeine and medications where possible.

Herbal Treatment For Adhd Questions Answered

Share

Jenny asks…

ADHD diagnosis?

My son has recently been diagnosed with ADHD. He was prescribed Ritalin at the drop of a hat, but after reading about the medication, and seeing the look of horror on people’s faces when I told them, I have decided he wont take it. I have ordered something called Synaptol, which is some herbal treatment for ADHD, it sounds good, but I have no idea. My son is also going to visit a complementary health centre tomorrow, but I just wondered if anyone has any views or can recommend anything I can try. I dont want to go down the Ritalin road, it sounds like a really gruesome drug.

Chloe Adisson answers:

Very long answer.. And I promise it is not a cut and paste quickie.. (I hate those)

First of all… Awesome :) good for you!
Finally a parent on this planet with some common sense.
Drugs are drugs and more parents should be encouraging their kids to stay away from them..
I am certainly not a doctor, but I can’t understand the logic of giving a brain stimulant to a person with hyperactivity issues.
A child has a brain that is growing and developing.. Adding a bunch of synthetic chemcals seems to only complicate matters. The behavior may change for the better.. But does the improvement justify the potential damage? Personally, I don’t think it does. I am sure there are a small percentage of kids out there that need some kind of drastic treatment… Little things like not cleaning up your room when asked to, or not doing well on schoolwork should not be interpretated as an indicaton that medical treatment options are mandatory and risky steps should be taken immediately.
Most behavioral issues fall under the responsibility of the parent or teacher, but it seems that psychiatrists are far too willing to offer everyone the easy way out of this responsibility by dropping a label on these kids and drugging them up so they will conform. And that is just sick.
I was doing some research for my sister and found another option for online while I was looking through alternative medicines for my nephew last year.. It is probably very similar to what you have found.

He is 13 now.. Seems to be doing better. A lot of his issues are stress related.. His father has been in the service and away from home for the last 3 years.. It is rough on him. He also has some kind of odd dietary abnormality.. Naturally sensitive to certain . He is a very healthy kid with a great personality :)

I will also throw you a link to read up on some of the prescriptions that are being offered to children for a variety of afflictions. It is somewhat jaded and loaded with propaganda from the opposite perspective of the drug manufacturers. Really is a fascinating debate. And the questions left unanswered is the reason I am so against the idea that medication is solution.

The reality is that nothing can be done to cure the problem until the true cause for the problem can be determined. And right now everybody is guessing.. The drug companines are rushing to convince the public that they have the answer to it without a shred of conclusive evidence as proof of their statements. The FDA that approves the medications is majorly sponsored by the drug companies for their funding. (blatent conflict of interest). The psychaitrists are stuck in a position where if they don’t prescribe something, they are taking the risk that the parents will lose confidence in that entire section of the medical field. Everyone involved with the debate is horribly tainted by money.. And the kids are typically left with the negative consequences for the decisions made by the adults with the moral obligation to protect them. Alternative medicine may or may not be as effective.. But at least it is natural. That makes more sense to me as a first option.
I encourage you to get a couple opinions before you choose any course of action for your child.. The treatment options out there right now are very shady for these types of things. Not enough is known about it.
Research all you can on it.. There is a lot of good information out there from the perspective of the parents that are in a similar situation. Both sides of the debate have valid points.

A lot of it is a shift in society .. 20 years ago, the general perception would have been.. ‘ahh.. It’s ok.. He’s just a kid being a kid’ .. And today it is more like ‘wow.. Your kid is a spoiled brat.. You should really do something about it’
Same child.. Different decade.
Experimental drugs may always be an option, but try everything else first.. If an adult wants to be irresponsible and ruin their lives by being a drug addict.. So be it.. I am also a parent.. And my daughter would have to be VERY out of control for me to even consider it. Dangerous and destructive, yes.. I would consider it.. Anything less, no way.

In the interest of fairness, I will also give you the medical side of things and leave you to make your own informed decision..

This website will give you the clinical perspective on the affliction .. And symptom/treatment/prognosis information

http://www.drugs.com/condition/attention-deficit-disorder.html

This website will give you all of the prescription information for every drug that is FDA approved to treat ADD/ADHD.

Yes, there are a lot of things that anybody can say against what I have written.. But, you don’t have to be a doctor to understand that when the negative side effects of a drug show a 400-600% increased chance of occurence over placebo, you are taking an unnecessary risk. When that statistic comes down to reasonable levels and can be independently proven.. My opinion will change dramatically.

Mary asks…

what is the best known nonmedicinal treatment for ADHD?

herbal or nonherbal treatments for ADHD

Chloe Adisson answers:

A great deal of benefit is gained by removing all additives and preservatives from the .

There have been studies done to show that 80% of children with ADHD make huge improvements just by changing diet.

It means cutting out all fizzy drinks, all colourants (they are in many foods and drinks) , especially sunshine yellow. All additives.

Just use natural fresh foods, meat, fish, fruit and vegetables.

Laura asks…

What is the best alternative treatment for ADHD?

Herbal only. Liver, gal bladder cleanse. No drugs. Specific products please. Hoping to shorten my research a little.
arguing that cleanses are bad. They are great if you know what you are doing. The right ones do work, unlike drugs that cure symptoms only. Cure your illness, not hide it.
Yes there is such a thing. I agree that usually it is bad parenting, in which this is somewhat. As a Foster parent I know your feeling all too well
True ADHD is usually caused by the mother eating and drinking too much sugar and caffeine. Stop drink mountain dew and whatever while pregnant. Stop smoking/drinking, dying . Sacrifice a little for your baby.

Chloe Adisson answers:

There have actually been a lot of studies that have shown that Fish Oil can help with ADD/ADHD. It seems too simple, and that may be one reason it wasn’t really looked at closely for this, but I wasn’t surprised it would help when I thought about it. The EPA and DHA in Fish Oil help with all sorts of things including heart health, skin health, and brain health. There was a good article at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-391503/Fish-oil-calms-children-better-Ritalin.html that covers some of this as well.
Give it a try… It’s economical, safe, and easy. Just make sure that the company you get it from uses Molecular Distillation because that’s currently the only safe way to remove any trace contaminants of any heavy metals. Of course, if you aren’t sure about the dosage or the benefits, you may want to consult with a holistic doctor, as they may have other additional options available to them.

There are also a lot of people who have found some relief from limiting sugar, artificial colors/flavorings, and going with less (or no) processed food to take away those possible causes as well. From research I’ve done, Fish Oil tends to help more, but both work even better together. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Donald asks…

ADHD herb called “alphanie” (sp?)?

I heard a doctor on TV talking about an herbal treatment for ADD/ADHD. He pronounced it “alphanie” but I don’t know the proper spelling, so I can’t look up any information about it. Has anyone heard of this treatment? Do you know how it is properly spelled? Thanks!

Chloe Adisson answers:

Not sure, but I’ve found this:

“Herbs and Supplements. A number of parents resort to alternative remedies as an alternative to psychostimulants and other drugs. These products include- as St. John? ‘ s wort, ginkgo biloba, panax ginseng, melatonin, and pine bark extract. Based on existing evidence, however, none can be recommended, particularly for children.

Generally, manufacturers of herbal remedies and dietary supplements do not need FDA approval to sell their products. Just like a drug, herbs and supplements can affect the body’s chemistry, and therefore have the potential to produce side effects that may be harmful. There have been a number of reported cases of serious and even lethal side effects from herbal products. Always check with your doctor before using any herbal remedies or dietary supplements.”

There’s lots of sites on the net selling invented ‘cures’ to concerned parents. These are nothing more than modern snake oil, so be careful.

Daniel asks…

A miracle treatment?

My 5 yo son has been diagnosed with ADHD-combined type and ODD recently. Its been recommended to us to put him on medication. I have been doing some reading on the different types of available medications and I have to say, they ALL scare me! The side effects are atrocious with some of these medications. So, I have done some searching and came accross a herbal treatment called “Focus ADHD“. What caught my eye is the tons of testimonials on the site for this drug, and some of them (the testimonials) brought me to tears. Has anyone tried this herbal supplement/treatment? If so, did it work well? Did it have any side effects? Also, has anyone had TRUE success with any of the traditional meds prescribed for ADHD (such as Ritalin, Strattera, etc.)? Any advice or help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!
Some more info–This product comes with a “dietary strategy” for parents, and tons of parental advice. In addition to taking the supplement, it says to make the following diet changes-eliminate refined sugars, soft drinks, artificial preservatives, artificial colors and “bad fats” (like trans-fat). It also recommends plenty of exercise and claims to be 100% natural, and completely not addictive, its safe enough to take forever if need be. I also have made a doctor’s appointment for Monday morning to discuss this product. Judging by the great answers I have gotton so far, this supplement is definitely worth a try. Thank you so much!

Chloe Adisson answers:

Yes, diet is really important. Also, less time in front of the tv, computer, playing games etc.
Although it is disputed by some people now, I still believe white sugar, especially at the rate north americans consume it, is not a healthy thing. Many people are also reactive to food dyes, artificial chemicals, preservatives etc.
I’m so glad to hear you are not going the pharmaceutical route.
Please watch the eye opening video below, you may want to send it to your friends. As well as school officials, who have no business in making a medical diagnosis.
But to actually answer your question, I am not familiar with Focus ADHD.

Foods Related To Acne

Share

Do you have acne problems? The fact is that causes of pimples can be attributed to a number of factors. Although regular application of cleansers can dramatically decrease an acne breakout, these are not the sole factors that you should watch out for.

Although the skin may be exposed to the outside elements, the components that it uses to flourish are taken in from the inside. This means that treating them from the outside is not enough, you must also nourish them from the inside. Hence, one should think about that cause acne.

You might have heard that there are really no foods that cause acne and what you heard is true. It’s not the food themselves; it’s the reaction of the body to these foods that triggers an acne attack. You see, body sugar is very much connected to a person’s hormones. In turn, the spike in our hormones triggers the body into a pimple overload. Such is the case with adolescents who are experiencing the first bouts of an overactive hormone.

So what food types should be considered big factors when it comes to body sugar? Soft drinks, chocolates plus other sweet foods comes into mind. Fat and dairy products can also affect body sugar levels, which is why cheese is considered as an acne trigger.

Food Alternatives
So what should you eat to minimize acne? As usual, you have your fresh fruits and vegetables. However, it has been noted that people react to different foods in different ways. For example, there are those who are unaffected by dairy products while a piece of chocolate triggers the birth of pimples. Those who want to experiment, try leaving out a few of your food choices from your daily . There’s a chance that some of the food that you eat trigger your acne although they are no way related to those mentioned above.

Other Causes of Pimples
Of course, as mentioned above, food is not the major issue when it comes to causes of pimples. Another thing to remember is hygiene. Look for cleansers that contain benzyl peroxide as an ingredient since these are very good in cleaning out blocked pores as a result of exposure to dirt.

Stress and lack of sleep are also considered as pimple triggers and although this does not apply to everyone, it doesn’t hurt to get an even eight hours of sleep every day. Keep in mind that pimples are skin irritations and irritating them further is also a probable cause of acne. So if you have a nasty pimple, let it die a natural death. Trying to pop it or even frequent touching can only spread the bacteria, prompting your skin to grow more pimples instead of disappearing completely.

Keep in mind that the best way method of treating acne is by preventing it. You’ll find that just by living a healthy, clean life, you’ll be saving yourself from future acne scar problems.

The Hcg Diet: Preparation For Success

Share

If you are thinking of starting the , there are a few things you can do to make sure that your experience is as successful as possible. The is based on a protocol developed in the 1950′s by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons, who was a British Endocrinologist. Dr. Simeons discovered that HCG, the pregnancy hormone, when injected into obese people caused them to lose their abnormal fat stores.

What is the HCG plan?
The basic requirements for the HCG diet include daily injections of HCG, or twice daily doses of HCG drops, a vitamin B12 supplement and a following a strictly defined, very low calorie diet of 500 calories a day.

HCG dieters get enough energy to get through the day on a mere 500 calories because the HCG in the bloodstream triggers the part of the brain that instructs the body to liberate and burn those abnormal fat stores that pad your hips, stomach, thighs and even under your chin. Your body will be burning thousands of these calories for nutrition and energy.

Making the necessary changes
Understandably, following a very strictly limited 500 calorie diet can be challenging to follow. You are used to eating three meals a day, snacking and indulging in desserts and drinking sugary soft drinks. Adhering to the HCG diet plan will require you to eat a very minimal, clean diet based on lean protein, fresh vegetables, fiber, and plenty of water.

You will have to adjust to not eating as much food as you may have been, and you will have to make a few other changes to your diet in preparation for sticking with this stringent plan. The payoff is that you get to enjoy a pound a weight success when you stick with the HCG diet plan.

Eliminating sugar from the diet
Because sugar is not allowed on the HCG diet, you might want to eliminate it completely from your diet for a week or so before you begin the HCG injections or drops. Be careful because sugar is often hidden in a lot of prepared . Read labels and watch out for with sugar, sucralose, glucose high-fructose corn syrup on the label.

Removing forbidden foods from the house
As with any other diet plan, one of the best ways to prepare for successfully following it is to at least remove foods that might tempt you from your home. This will help to put temptation out of reach as long as you are at home.

Getting adequate rest
Sleep is important to overall health, but one thing that you should keep in mind when you are trying to lose weight is that getting plenty of sleep can help keep cortisol levels nice and low. Cortisol is a hormone that regulates things like blood sugar levels, energy production and the immune system response. Too much cortisol can cause weight gain especially around the stomach area.

Follow these tips in order to prepare to successfully follow the HCG diet plan.

5 Simple Tricks To Help For Healthier Dining While Eating Out

Share

Eating out is a major part of many people’s lives. Maybe you have to eat at restaurants often because you captivate clients at eateries. Maybe you don’t even like going out to restaurants. Regardless, if you wish to maintain a nice fit body, restaurant meals gives you a huge obstacle to get over. Actually, eating dinner out at restaurants is just about the biggest reasons why a lot of individuals fatten up while on a trip.

Listed below, are a few very easy tricks you may use to and stay fit even while eating out at restaurants…

The 3 most significant things to avoid for that are everywhere at dining establishments are:

* fried meals (anything battered which got a scorching bath of trans fats)

* processed starchy food items

* just about any sugary sodas, juices, or other sugary food items (apart from raw fruit, that are great)

If you could skip these major culprits, this removes the major food sources which do the most detrimental damage in our food supply – trans fats, processed vegetable oils, highly processed starchy carbs, and refined sugars.

This implies you must try to skip the table bread, skip the french fries that come with almost every sandwich on each and every menu available, lower all the heaping servings of pasta and rice which are often loaded on the plates also.

Rather, try to order only meat with side vegetables, along with a salad, asking for the veggies or greens as an alternative for the typical french fries, pasta, or rice, that the majority of restaurant usually have.

Almost every restaurant will always permit you to replace veggies or perhaps a side salad for the french fries or chips which usually come with cheese burgers or snacks.

Take a look at the typical difference this simple substitution makes between choosing sensible and doing what a lot of individuals do…

A lot of individuals will eat out like this:

* Hamburger or sandwich

* chips or french fries

* soft drinks or other syrupy juice (with no, sodas are certainly not healthy!)

A MUCH smarter choice if you care about your health is this simple change:

* Hamburger or Sandwich

* Greens or vegetables

* unsweetened iced tea or water (no diet drinks — unless of course you want to consume poison!)

These 2 simple substitutions save a minimum of 400 – 900 calories each time you have dinner out (depending on drink refills and french fries serving sizes)… And you are therefore eliminating the most harmful foods to your body too by avoiding the evil trans fats and high fructose corn syrup from the french fries and carbonated drinks causing more .

Another side note: a little bit-well-known approach to eat full servings of pasta, rice, and breads and actually escape with it without any packing on the body fat is to ensure to schedule a high intensity full body weight training workout (could be dumbells or body weight training) prior to your scheduled meal time.

At times it might be difficult to fit the workout into your routine prior to the meal, but if you’re able to, the meal could be your “post-workout meal”. After a high intensity weight training workout, your body could handle a higher amount of carbohydrates than normal to help boost the muscle glycogen depletion you had during the intense workout.

A typical moderate intensity cardiovascular exercise will not cut it for this… it has to be high intensity weight training workout to deplete enough muscle glycogen to handle restaurant servings of carbohydrates.

I hope, these eating tips assist you to choose wiser and healthier for a slimmer body the next time you dine out.
