Cervical Cancer Vaccination

Recently I have heard a great deal about a new vaccine for cervical cancer. Like many, I was shocked to hear that cervical cancer can be caused by a virus just like the common cold. I thought that like many other kinds of cancer, cervical cancer was most likely a result of some sort of genetic mutation. Apparently, this mutation is caused by a virus that is more easily spread than we would like to believe.  But now we have a cervical cancer vaccination that has been released with much controversy.

During my sophomore year in college, my roommate came to me with a health concern. She was experiencing something strange and was frightened by it. After listening to her describe her symptoms, it did not take long before I knew that whatever this was went far beyond a typical yeast infection or similar issue. I recommended that she see a doctor and when she did, she was told that she had contracted HPV.

Human Papilloma Virus was not something I had ever heard of. When I did some research on sexually transmitted diseases, I found mentions of HPV. These mentions generally came at the end of the lists, which to me implied that HPV was not nearly as serious as other sexually transmitted diseases that we all know of. This was six years ago.

Perhaps even six months ago most people who came across mentions of HPV in their research would have discounted the severity of the virus. They certainly did not associate this virus or any virus with something as serious as cervical cancer. Cervical cancer can go undetected without a gynecological exam and Pap test. It is recommended that all women undergo such an exam every year. With the media coverage we have been blessed to witness recently on the topic, women everywhere are more informed about sexual health.

My friend has since had to undergo gynecological exams twice a year to monitor the HPV situation. She was told early on that the virus could render her sterile if not kept in check. Now she is more concerned about the possibility of developing cervical cancer than anything else. If she does not live, her worries about possibly being unable to create and give life are meaningless.

Hopefully, more and more women in the future will be able to avoid such worries with the introduction of the HPV vaccine. Although cervical cancer was not a subject you heard about often, it has been covered a lot in the news recently and will hopefully lead to fewer cases as more education about cervical cancer and its causes becomes available.

Cancer Wigs

One of the most difficult aspects of battling cancer for some people has little to do with the disease itself. They've come to accept that they have cancer but the treatment is what seems to cause them the most distress. If a person is facing chemotherapy treatments they will also, most likely, be dealing with hair loss.

Losing one's hair can be a devastating experience. This is particularly true for women although many men also find it a struggle to look in the mirror each day to see their hair falling out. Cancer wigs are a wonderful solution to this problem. They can truly make a remarkable difference in not only how the cancer patient looks but how they feel as well.

Many people decide to wear a wig long before all of their hair has fallen out. During chemotherapy the hair on the body will begin to thin and can result in very unhealthy looking hair. With cancer wigs, the patient can begin to wear the wig soon after treatment begins. This way no one really notices the hair beneath the wig thinning.

It can be very uncomfortable to shop for a hairpiece. Many people feel self-conscious about the fact that they are going bald. They don't want anyone, including a wig salesperson to see them. However, it's important to keep in mind that the people who sell cancer wigs are very sensitive and supportive. They want to help the cancer patient find one, two, or even several cancer wigs that they can use.

No one says that you have to stick to the same hairstyle or hair color when you are looking for a wig. Cancer wigs come in every imaginable hairstyle and color. For women this can be especially fun as they can choose several cancer wigs all in different colors. This affords them the ability to be a red head one day and a blonde the next.

Cancer is a difficult thing to have to deal with and anything that can help to lessen the anxiety is important. For the family of the cancer patient, they can encourage them to think about cancer wigs and how much more comfortable they will feel wearing one as opposed to a scarf.

If you are hesitant about visiting a shop, consider shopping online. The Internet is home to many cancer resources including cancer wigs retailers. These online shops offer a wide variety of wigs for both men and women. One thing to bear in mind is that most online outlets have a no return policy on cancer wigs so you need to be certain of the style, length and color before completing the purchase.

Cancer Treatments

If you or a loved one has recently been diagnosed with cancer, then the discussion has mostly been regarding recommended cancer treatments, side effects, and efficacy. There are a number of cancer treatment options available, including alternative or natural cancer treatments, invasive and non-invasive procedures, chemotherapy, radiation, or a combination.

Not every cancer treatment works the same for every patient. It depends a great deal on what type of cancer has been diagnosed, how much it has progressed, and what type of cancer treatments are effective at that particular stage. Some people opt not to proceed with any type of cancer treatment, which is also their choice. If the going through all the pain and suffering just isn't worth it to them for whatever reason, they are allowed to make this decision. Some aggressive cancers have advanced so quickly that whatever type of therapy chosen may just not be able to stop the cancer from spreading, or it has progressed so far that treatment is not even an option.

When most people think of cancer treatment, they think of chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is used to treat the majority of cancers; there are over 100 different drugs that are used alone or in combination with others, that work systemically throughout the body. There is always a great chance that cancer cells have or will migrate to other parts of the body, which is why chemotherapy is used as the first line approach.
Chemotherapy can be administered orally, intramuscularly, or intravenously, and be taken daily, weekly, or monthly. Unfortunately, some side effects are common with chemotherapy, but there are new cancer drugs being developed all the time that work to reduce side effects and make chemotherapy more bearable. Chemotherapy is usually the first step in cancer treatment, before surgery or other more aggressive options are chosen, unless of course there is no choice.

There are also a number of alternative cancer treatments that are very effective when used in conjunction with traditional approaches. Some of these alternative therapies include herbal supplements like various herbal remedies, but care must be taken to not use these treatments in any other way than prescribed, and plenty of research should be conducted first to make sure it's not just a scam.

Cancer patients should also inform their oncologist of everything they are taking, which includes all prescription and over the counter medications, and herbal preparations. There could be a chance of interaction between these chemicals and certain cancer treatments. Before making a decision regarding any type of cancer treatment, do your homework, and get a second opinion. What may be the right cancer treatment for one, may not be for another.

Finding Articles on Lung Cancer

One of the issues most apparent in our modern day world is cancer. It never ceases to amaze me how many individuals still smoke. Now, I know that the majority of us have read at least a few articles on lung cancer. It is caused by smoking and being around those who smoke. This is clear as day. What else do you need to know before you stop sucking on cancer sticks? Maybe you just haven't read the right articles on lung cancer. I tell you what, pop open your favorite search engine and punch in the word, "smoking." You will find all sorts of stuff that may even surprise you or further educate you. It's time to kick the habit.

I can recall back in middle school when I always liked hanging out at my friend's house. He was my closest buddy after all, and it was always a blast to chat and shoot pool with him. However, one thing I didn't care for is the way that his folks always smoked in the house. This made the house reek and it was almost unbearable. It wasn't until I was older that I actually thought about this. They were totally imposing their bad habit on their son and two daughters. Whether they intended it or not, they were infusing their children with second hand smoke. This is quite sad. Not only could this cause cancer, but it often leads to passing on the habit. Now that the three children are grown, they all smoke. What a big surprise. Parents who use cigarettes have children who use cigarettes. Okay, I just had to toss that in there. It's like the old cocaine commercial with the dad who confronts his son about using drugs, only to find out that the son learned it from watching him.

Have you read any good articles on lung cancer lately? Let me tell you, this illness is becoming an epidemic. Heck, I even see individuals with holes in their necks that still smoke. That's just wrong. If you are a smoker of any kind, then I suggest you take a gander at some of the more recent articles on lung cancer. You'll find that most of them are linked to smoking. It's like skin cancer and the sun. You'd think folks would get a clue by now. Just to be on the aware side, hop on your laptop today and find out a little more about cancer and what causes it. Choose from articles on lung cancer, skin cancer, breast cancer and more. It pays to be in the know.

In Search of an Alternative Cancer Treatment?

Are you considering an alternative cancer treatment?  When you or some you love or know is diagnosed with cancer, you want to know what is the best treatment available. You know there is such a controvery around chemotherapy such as killing the good cells for the sake of getting rid of the cancerous ones is hard to rationale. Never the less, modern medicine offers this as a treatment.  I believe an alternative cancer treatment is a viable option when you know all the fact.  There is so many success stories that I have personally read about so I believe it is necessary to weigh all the options.  But in the end, it comes down to what you believe will work for you.

When you sit and ponder the hardships of our contemporary world, it's often difficult not to be saddened. There are just so many illnesses and diseases out there now days that make our health situation even worse and more complicated. Inexplicable terrors such as cancer have plagued our world for decades now. However, we still don't know the absolute best or ideal way to deal with them. Although most people assume chemotherapy is the only way to deal with the big bad "C," there are alternative cancer treatments available. Now, whether or not you find an alternative cancer treatment effective provides discussion and debate.  A great deal depends on the person and his/her condition.

Do you know of a successful alternative cancer treatment? One of the best website I know of is called Cancer Tutor . This website alot of alternative cancer treatment information so you can make an informed decision about your treatment options. I have heard of people are having a lot of success with a raw food diet. Also there is a big buzz about Xango Mangosteen as an alternative cancer treatment because research show it shrinks cancerous tumors.  The key to all of this is researching your alternative treatment options because everyone talks about chemotherapy like it was the be-all end-all to cancer treatments. I must admit that it makes me cringe to think about the effect it has on ones body. If you didn't already know, chemotherapy is a radiation treatment that is used to kill the cancer cells/growth in the human body. Unfortunately it has to poison your body to accomplish this task. Hence the hair falling out and the vomiting. It's a terrible process to watch first hand. This actually may be why certain individuals search for an alternative cancer treatment.

If finding a quality and effective alternative cancer treatment is your goal, then I would suggest research via the World-Wide-Web. I believe this will save a great deal of time and effort on your part. If your personal doctor knows of no legitimate alternative cancer treatment, then you must take matters into your own hands. Although this horrific disease continuously affects a number of human beings, sometimes leaving us hopeless, we certainly can't give up on finding the ideal cure. That choice alternative cancer treatment is out there. It's all about being tenacious and never quitting.
