Aloe Vera Benefits Questions Answered

Share

Joseph asks…

What are the health benefits of Aloe Vera?

If aloe vera is really a cure for diabetes, would you try?

Chloe Adisson answers:

The Health Benefits of Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera gel is often thought as having one specific function: cooling and helping to heal sunburns. In fact, Aloe is an amazing plant with a wide ability to aid in the healing process, to protect, moisturize, and even extend life. It was used in ancient times for medicinal purposes, and its relevancy has not diminished today. Aloe’s usefulness continues to grow as scientists study its properties and possible applications.

Aloe Vera is a cellular regenerator and has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal effects. These properties alone contribute to Aloe’s place as one of nature’s healthiest products. WorldwideHealth.com’s Health Library lists magnesium lactate, an itch inhibitor, in the minerals contained in the plant. Therefore, in bringing relief to insect bites, acne, sunburns, rashes, and other topical conditions, Aloe makes sense.

But what about the less frequent uses of Aloe? Should Aloe be considered as an addition to diet and lifestyle? Aloe can purportedly do so much more than soothe irritated skin. Taken internally, it can be used as a laxative and to destroy certain bacteria or parasites in the intestines. Unsubstantiated claims include that it can help heal ulcers and settle a queasy stomach. There are a dozen uses for Aloe that have been integrated into modern alternative medicine, and scientists have been able to study some of these claims.

Dr. Timothy E. Moore’s research on Aloe and dental health at the International Aloe Science Council (IASC) describes gel from the plant as having the ability to heal, control the accumulation of fluids, and reduce pain. He has also found that in denture patients, aloe can reduce inflammation and discomfort caused by fungi and bacteria. Other uses include post periodontal surgery and on cracks and lesions found inside and outside the mouth.

In a study performed by the Department of Physiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center, lab rats were given a 10% greater life span by ingesting Aloe. The animals showed lowered occurrences of various diseases including arterial thrombosis and leukemia. In addition, no adverse side effects were found in the rats on a diet that included Aloe.

While anyone considering alternative medicine to treat conditions should consult their physician first, Aloe may be a viable remedy for various ailments. Through observation and further tests, scientists have proven that the healing effects of Aloe extend beyond merely soothing sunburn. Future studies should bring credibility to other claims of Aloe’s diverse medical benefits.

Sandy asks…

What are the benefits of aloe Vera gel over just using the leaf?

After getting a sunburn I was curious as to whether a manufactured aloe Vera gel is better than cutting open an aloe Vera leaf and using just that.

Chloe Adisson answers:

It has sothering effect over skin and reduce dia skin pores along with their cleaning.leaf gel is natural may be have some infectious/allergent material, while manufactured is sterlized one.these leaves may bbe eaten after cooking.

Detoxify Questions Answered

Share

Laura asks…

What is the best way to detoxify your body?

What is the best possible way to cleanse my body/clear the colon of toxins or to detoxify due to stressors, pollutants, toxins, and other such things?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Your own body is very efficient at doing this on it’s own. Detox diets, flushes and cleanses are scams, not without risks.

Lizzie asks…

What is the best way to detoxify your body at home?

What is the best possible way to cleanse my body/clear the colon of toxins or to detoxify due to stressors, pollutants, toxins, and other such things?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Anyone interested in detoxifying their body might think about paying a little more attention to their body and less attention to the people trying to get their money. The body already has nature’s most detoxification system. It’s called the liver. The liver changes the chemical structure of foreign compounds so they can be filtered out of the blood by the kidneys, which then excrete them in the urine.

Joseph asks…

How to detoxify your body from medications?

I took a medication called Clomipramine and I am getting lot of the side effects. And its making me really ill. I want to know how to detoxify my body so I can feel better. Symptoms are: nervousness, shakiness, nausea, perspiration, trouble sleeping, muscle twitching, and headaches.

Chloe Adisson answers:

Wow…medicines have an active life and I would suggest helping stay healthy by keeping hydrated and resting. Baths might help alleviate some of it. There are alternative medicine suggestions for detoxing like teas at health food stores that may help.

John asks…

How can i detoxify/decongest my liver naturally for clearer skin and overall well being?

I was told that if i detox/decongest my liver that i’ll have clearer skin because the skin is a major outlet of everything else that is going on in your body.Right now i’m doing a colon cleanse kit.I just started. Will this interfere with naturally cleansing my liver or can i continue to take them?So how can i naturally detoxify my liver for clearer skin and overall well being?

Chloe Adisson answers:

We have Top quality Health and fitness products that will meet your specific liver nutrient need. Since we use the products my skin is totally different! Please contact us and we will send you this information;

Thomas asks…

What is the best way for someone to detoxify their body of any drugs?

And how long does it take?
What is the quickest way to detoxify your body of any drugs?

Chloe Adisson answers:

To detoxify one’s body of drug use, it takes time. First, the drug use has to stop. Secondly, one has to wait until nature rids the body of remnants of the drugs in one’s system. Drink a lot of water to purify the body. Cranberry juice can also help cleanse the kidneys of infection.

Aromatherapy Questions Answered

Share

Donna asks…

What is aromatherapy and how does it work?

Elderly family member is in nursing home and I’ve been told lately aromatherapy is been given her. How does it work?
Thank you oldtimekid2 and veggigirl7777 for answers so far.

Chloe Adisson answers:

Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile plant materials, known as oils, and other aromatic compounds for the purpose of altering a person’s mood, cognitive function or health. The effectiveness of aromatherapy is yet to be scientifically proven, however some evidence exists that oils may have therapeutic potential.

Since some essential oils such as tea tree have demonstrated anti-microbial effects, it has been suggested that they may be useful for the treatment of infectious diseases. The evidence base for the efficacy of aromatherapy used to treat medical conditions remains poor with a particular paucity of methodologically rigorous studies

Ruth asks…

How many types of compesses are there in aromatherapy?

I am currently studying aromatherapy, one question on my essay is “How many types of compress are there?” But the only ones i can find are hot, cold and heating. Is this it or am I missing something? Thankyou.

Chloe Adisson answers:

A compress is a very basic form of treatment which entails the folding of a piece of material, bandage or small towel, into a pad by wetting it and applying it to the areas to be treated.

HOT : Hot compresses are used to treat old injuries, muscle pain, rheumatic pain, menstrual cramps, boils, and toothache.

COLD: Cold compresses are used for new sprains, bruising, swelling and inflammation, fever and headaches.

I think your question is as as you think, you could go on to explain how to make a hot and cold compress as well as what oils you would use for your choice of application.

Cheers.

David asks…

How to keep aromatherapy pillow scent from fading?

So I learned the basic method for making aromatherapy pillows (rice and essential oils in cloth bag) but I’ve discovered that the scent is fading after just two or three heat-ups. Is there any way to prevent this? I eventually want to sell these–but obviously it’s not smart or good business to sell stuff that won’t work after just a few days.

Chloe Adisson answers:

I’m really not sure about how to prevent this since the only downfall of essentail oils (at least in my book) is that the aroma fades.

I’ve never tried any of these, so I don’t know how they’d work, but here are my suggestions:

Add some of the whole herb to the pillows. Add the essential oils to the herb first, and let it sit in a closed container for a few days and then add the rice. I’m not sure how many more heat-ups this would last for, or if there would be some problem with the herbs (mold? Although, it’s dry so that probably wouldn’t be a problem) in the pillow, but if there were herbs inside, this would help “fix” the oils, and also when a person is using the pillow, the herbs would get slightly crushed, releasing their own scent. I use lavender (whole herb, without e.o.s) in mesh bags in my drawers and a little squeeze of the bags helps refresh the scent. The ones I’m using now are about two years old, and they still smell nice, but I’m not using them with heat.

Add orris root powder. Again, you’d add the oils to the powder and let it sit, then add the rice. This is used in potpouri as a fixitive, so it might work for your pillows. It has a slight flowery smell, but you could make it work with your oil blends. You could even try the whole herb, plus the orris root powder with the oils before adding the rice.

Sell your pillows with a little bottle of refresher oil. You can find small vials online. This would work well, but I don’t think it would be cost for you. I just wanted to add it in as something to think about.

I hope one of those works for you. It makes me really happy to hear about people making natural products and actually caring whether or not they work!

Michael asks…

What is a good vodka to use in aromatherapy?

Im looking for a high proof commercially available vodka that can be used in cologne making/aromatherapy. Can anybody give me advice on what they have used in the past and that is available in England.

Chloe Adisson answers:

You need isophrophyl alcohol for that. Wanted to add its also a lot cheaper as well.

Helen asks…

Where can I get replacement aromatherapy treatments for my foot spa?

I have the Aromatherapy Ultimate foot spa by Remington and need to buy replacement treatments. Where can I find them?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Any health food shop does aroma therapy. The brand shouldn’t really matter.

Simple and Effective Uses of Essential Oils

Share

Hippocrates the Father of medicine knew the power of aromatherapy and oils when he declared “The way to health is to have an aromatic bath and scented massage daily”

Aromatherapy is an amazing holistic therapy that can be used in almost every area of your life, Stress, Anxiety and Depression are just some of the areas that aromatherapy is incredibly . Olfaction is unique amongst the senses in its direct connections to the neuro endocrine and limbic structures of the brain.

When we detect the smell of an essential oil, that oil has already entered into our lungs & olfactory system and is stimulating the release of chemical responses throughout our bodies. The response is determined by the aroma that is inhaled, the use of oils such as lemon have been shown to reduce typing errors when vaporised in offices, oils such as fennel can stimulate digestion and a whole plethora of oils can be successfully utilised for easing stress, anxiety, depression as well as boosting the immune system.

The choice of essential oil(s) to use is very much a personal choice, I suggest that you take a little time to smell a few oils and allow the different aromas to guide you to the essential oil(s) that are most suited to you. Below are a few oils that have a wide spectrum of uses.

Bergamot FCF (Citrus bergamia) is an uplifting oil that works very fast and effectively. Bergamot can ease anger and irritation and can defuse aggravation. Apply a drop neat at the first signs of a cold sore and it will stop it in its tracts. Add 8 drops to a tissue which is placed in with your tea bags to make delicious Earl Grey tea

Chamomile German (Chamomillia matricaria) a calming soothing oil that is ideal for times of tension or sleeplessness. Such a gentle oil that it is safe to use on new born babies, this is my number one of for calming and promoting sleep in young children, also great for teething, tantrums and nappy rash.

Neroli (Citrus aurantium var amara flos) ideal for insomnia, irritation and depression a beautiful sweet floral aroma that nurtures and rebalances ragged nerves. Wear as a perfume when feeling down or nervous,

Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) a wonderful meditative oil that promotes calmness & deep breathing, use at night especially if you experience disturbed sleep or nightmares. Perfect when feeling uptight, anxious or flustered. Great for children that experience night terrors. My number one choice for asthmatics

Sandalwood Australia (Santalum spicatum ) is a deeply calming nurturing oil that can ease irritation and help us see past petty annoyances allowing one to find other solutions. An effective remedy for both throat & urinary tract infections gargle

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) Promotes calmness and tranquillity, ideal for agitation, anxiety, irritation and headaches. Can be applied neat to the skin to heal open wounds, cuts, bites & burns. Apply one drop to each temple at the outset of a headache and feel the tension melt away. This oil is a first aid box in a bottle.

Vetivert (Vetiveria zizanoides ) a deep calming earthy aroma that is ideal for anyone that tends to be “off with the fairies” ” not in their bodies, disconnected”,. Vetivert is grounding, very nourishing ideal for dehydrated skin it is calming to the nervous system has a great cooling effect when applied to the skin. Often people prefer to mix this with lighter oils such as Bergamot FCF or Sweet Orange to lift this aroma a little.

The reason aromatherapy is so effective is that there are so many ways that you can utilise the oils to gain maximum benefit, Personally having a regular aromatic bath at night is my sanity saver, others do not enjoy bathing so use a vaporizer or receiving a massage would be more appropriate, below are a few suggestions

Bathing with Essential oils is an ideal way to promote relaxation and sleep. It is a good idea to mix your essential oil (s) with a little (5ml) of carrier oil (sweet almond/ avocado/ Jojoba etc) I use an egg cup or shots glass to mix the carrier oil with the essential oils before pouring into a drawn bath. Use Approximately 8 – 10 drops in an adult bath.

An electric vaporizer that requires no water is ideal to use in your bedroom to promote calm and tranquillity and to help to assist with quietening the mind so that sleep can be achieved Sandalwood and Frankincense are two of my favourite oils for this, I am not a fan of candle burners as the idea of a naked flame unattended would be enough to keep me awake all night, if you do not have an electric vaporizer I suggest you use a candle burner in your bedroom a few hours before going to bed and the put out when you get into bed. Alternatively you can apply 3 drops of oil to a tissue and tuck this into your pillow slip. Add stimulating oils during the day to help you stay alert and focussed idea to use when working on a computer oils of Basil & Rosemary are great for mental dexterity

Receiving professional aromatherapy massage on a regular basis is a wonderful way to address stress, anxiety and depression, if your budget does not stretch to this then self massage is also recommended, add 5 drops of your chosen oil(s) to 10 mls of carrier oil such as sweet almond/ Jojoba/ Apricot kernel etc, remembering to always work up your legs never down to assist with circulation and prevent varicose veins

Detoxify Your Body Questions Answered

Share

Sharon asks…

What is a good way to cheaply detoxify your body?

A lot of health stores sell liver cleansing and colon cleaning regiments…. but is there a cheaper way of detoxifying your body?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Try a 1-3 day juice fast, drink only unsweetened natural fruit and vegetable juices along with plenty of water. Add a little salt especially if you are sweating a lot. Moderate exercise is ok but don’t overexert yourself.

If you feel like you need extra colon cleansing then include prune juice, but be prepared to spend a lot of time in the bathroom getting “cleansed” :)

George asks…

How do you detoxify your body at home?

How do you free your body of all toxins and poisons at home? Does drinking nothing but water and sitting in a sauna do it?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Karl, it sounds like you have fallen victim to dodgy marketing in dodgy ‘natural health’ magazines or websites. There is a good reason why this stuff is only promoted by non-medical sources – because its mostly baloney.

‘Detox’ has no meaning outside of the clinical treatment of drug addiction or poisoning. Our bodies have evolved to get rid of unwanted substances very efficiently via the liver and kidneys; this function is not something you can improve upon with alternative medicine products, special diets, fasting or saunas. There is no plausibility or evidence to support the claims of alt med ‘detox’ proponents. If you truly have poisonous levels of toxins accumulated in your body, then you would be extremely ill and need a hospital.

At the end of the day, ‘detox’ as promoted in alternative medicine, is both a fad and a scam. Just because you may see ‘detox’ products in pharmacies it doesn’t mean they are valid; pharmacy chains in general don’t care, they are after profits.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detoxification

Lizzie asks…

What is the safest way to clean/detoxify your body?

I’ve seen infomercials for system cleanses and I was wondering if anybody knows how you can clean out your body/digestive tract naturally? If not, then what is the best way to do it?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Just do a plain non fat yogurt and water for a couple days thats wat i do to cleanse when i am not feeling too good or need to drop a couple pounds but i dont know how good it cleans the digestive track

James asks…

How do those foot detox pads work? And do they actually detoxify your body of harmful stuff?

What is that black junk that appears on the foot pads after wearing them overnight? Is that just dirt from the bottom of your feet or is it some chemical reaction that appears on the surface of the pad so it appears as if it came from your body?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Its junk. The reason they turn black is becuase a mixture of vingar and salts are inside of them and it reacts to the oils in your body.

They are a waste of money, look them up on MSN webpage, they did a study of them.

Maria asks…

Is niacin plus a lot of Water and Cranberry Juice enough to Detoxify your body?

If I start taking 100 mg(or a higher doesage) of niacin plus start drinking ALOT of Cranberry jucie and water for around 1 week enough to cleanse your body of THC. I AM trying to pass drug tests but I have approxiamtley 1 week or more before i am tested.

Chloe Adisson answers:

No, it will not help to clean THC out of your system and aside from the water, that’s not going to detox at all.
Niacin is a B vitamin that gives a “flushing effect” to your skin… Not to your body. It makes your skin turn red (it makes your skin flush) because it helps with circulation. It won’t burn your intestines (unless you’re highly allergic to it), especially in that low of a dose… But it might turn your skin bright red.
Cranberry juice just helps to make your urine a bit more acidic so it can help to cleanse out a Urinary Tract Infection… It doesn’t specifically detox your body.

Hcg Diet Protocol Questions Answered

Share

John asks…

How hungry do I have to be to start maintenance on HCG diet?

I’m not looking for a debate about the HCG diet. I just took my last dose at about 1am this morning but I REALLY want to eat something more and different than that on protocol. I’ve never been entirely full this whole round of VLCD and I want to start maintenance NOW so I can finally be satisfied. Can I start maintenance tomorrow if I’m still hungry??

Chloe Adisson answers:

Hi! Even you are on the diet and following the protocol, you mus not starve yourself like eat some just don not make your self eat as much as you want, just simply eat an amount that you’ll cravings will be satisfied, just don’t starve yourself, and besides you have your maintenance.

George asks…

Missed Period on HCG DIET!! HELP?

Hello, this is for the ladies, I recently started on the HCG protocol about 2 weeks ago today, down 9lbs!! YAY anyway I am also 3 days late on my period. Can anyone give me there experience or tell me if HCG Diet effects menstrual cycles alot??? I read it did but I need more “real” ppl to advise! THANKS!!!!!

Chloe Adisson answers:

Yeah changes in your diet will make you miss your period or for it to come early…i was on a diet once before (mine didnt work) lol and my period came about 10 days late but went back to normal after a while i wouldnt worry to much about it

Mary asks…

anyone done the hcg diet on higher calories?

Has anyone done the HCG diet on higher calories? If so how well did you lose? I am really wanting to try this diet but I am very skeptical on the 500 calories. I have currently lost 30 lbs. on my own by eating healthy and exercising regularly. You may ask why don’t I continue? Well my response is that I have plateaued and I really want to lose another 25-30 lbs. by July if possible. According to all the research done on this diet that is possible but I do not want to hurt my body through starvation. I still exercise and plan on continuing this with the HCG diet. So is I eat around 1000 – 1200 calories and burn over that amount through my workouts how will this measure up with the HCG protocol??? Any advise or suggestions would be great! Thanks! (=

Chloe Adisson answers:

Go with the lower calories if you wish. Never go below 1200 per day.
Hcg is a ridiculous and dangerous phenomenon sweeping the country right now. It will only last until the FDA steps in and prevents doctors from prescribing the hcg for unapproved use. It is not approved for weight loss.
The drops are all fake and a waste of time. None contain true hcg but some similar amino acid.
See the two links below before proceeding. You have done so well!
Please don’t fall for the hype and fork over your money to someone selling “hope”.

Susan asks…

The HCG diet and Concerta?

I’m 170 and 5’6. I carry my weight very well, however, I’d like to lose 25 pounds. I’m on the Homeopathic HCG protocol, and I’ve lost a couple pounds this week. As of yesterday, I started Concerta for my very low/mild case of ADD. Loss of appetite is a big side effect with the medicine. I eat 700 calories a day, I’m not starving, I’m never hungry, and I eat two proteins, two startches, and three servings of fruits and vegtables throughout the day in roughly 6 meals. It’s almost as if I have to force myself to eat. If it were my choice, i’d only eat when I was hungry but then i’d be eating only one small thing once a day, and my body would just store it. Eating six small portions a day keeps your metablisim up. How much weight could I expect to lose by september? Anyone on a low cal diet? I’m also doing pilates.

Chloe Adisson answers:

Looks like uve got a pretty well thought diet. Its hard to put an actual number on anthing but id definately say u will be burning fat quickly

Carol asks…

Dr. Simeon’s Protocol/ HCG for weight loss ?

I am planning on using the Dr. Simeons Protocol for weight loss, using a special diet and HCG, I’ve done a lot of research on this, all I am asking if anyone has done this, and if so, what products can we use and what products can we not use. For example: Lotions, deorderant, toothpaste, soap, ect.

Chloe Adisson answers:

I am sure things will workout for you-all the best.
