Detoxify Or Die Questions Answered

Share

Betty asks…

What’s the deal with the ?

It seems like everyone attacks dieting with lectures on anorexia and bulimia. I just read about someone wanting to reduce their caloric intake to between 300-400 calories a day and she only got one actual answer, the rest were comments “You’re going to die.” Granted, the question seemed extreme, and there was more desperation behind it than anything else…but if you consider the alternative…obesity is just as deadly. Atherosclerosis, Myocardial Infarction, Diabetes..and the list goes on and on. Overeating is just as serious, if not worse. Then, when you consider the countless websites that talk about “fasting” for 30 days on WATER ALONE for weight loss and body detoxification, how can you justify what’s healthy and what’s not? Starving yourself for thirty days is acceptable if you’re doing it to detoxify your body…but cutting your caloric intake down is anorexic? It was my understanding that your body had three sources of energy…glucose, glucagon, and fat. Once your body is starved of glucose and glucagon, it turns to its fat store, and you lose weight. EVENTUALLY, your body will eat away at its muscles, but not before the fat..Someone please correct me if I’m wrong. I’m not anorexic or bulimic, nor do I approve of such behaviors. I just see people seeking being shunned for it. I’m just trying to understand why.
I’m not looking for dieting advice either. I don’t have a weight problem.

:

Haha. You sound really really educated about this kind of stuff.

I think people are being criticiced for seeking advice because in my expierence with Yahoo Answers alot of the people are Underweight already and still they want to lose more weight. When you thing about it there are 11 and 12 year olds on this site wanting to know if the Master Cleanse or drinking grapefruit juice all day will help them lose weight.

And usually people are not shunned for asking for diet advice when they actually need it. Like if there overweight or obese, buy yeah that happens a lot. People tend to lecture people on stuff like that because it’s preventable. Just like obesity is, however there are more questions that pertain more to low weight.

Just my opinion :]
And yes, I agree with everything you said.

Donald asks…

Who would do this?

By Detoxing and Rejuvenating your Mind, Body and Spirit,

1. You allow yourself to heal from any toxins that have been held inside your body,
2. You allow your Mind to release any harsh feelings or Sad emotions,
3. You allow your Spirit to become open and free. Once you ahve Detoxified and Rejuvenated your Mind Body and Spirit,
4. You can finally Allow yourself to enjoy real Homeostasis.

(Homeostasis: Optimal Well being, Optimal Health, At a point in your life when all is ok, and righht with you Physically, Mentally, Emotionall, and Spiritually.)

Laura asks…

When did people start using the word “toxin” to refer to waste?

When I was in middle school, “toxin” meant something that could reliably be used by an animal, in small doses, to kill another animal. Or otherwise something that was fatal in small doses. “Toxic”, too, had an implied lethality.

Now, it means any substance that can cause discomfort. Also, when people talk about using diuretics such as tea to flush waste from the body, people say they are “detoxifying” and “flushing toxins” from their bodies.

The way other people use that word and the way I use the word are incompatible, since if there were enough toxins in your body for a cup of green tea to have a noticeable effect on their level, you would be long since dead and should probably be walled off so that other people don’t touch you and die as well.

So when exactly did this change?

Chloe Adisson answers:

At least in the UK, it seems to have started in the early 1990s.

I had a look in NewsBank (the UK and archive), and until around 1992 there were several dozen hits in papers a year, all using it in the trad scientific sense. Then over about a decade it creeps up to 2000+ hits, either using it to refer to general pollutants or (mostly) the fictitious poisons that “detoxifying” is alleged to remove.

Richard asks…

Wouldn’t it be great if a kind of penicillin for mental health were developed?

In physical health, before antibiotics, people with infections had to rely on their immune systems to fight certain diseases. Many times nature didn’t do such a good job, and people got really sick or died. But now that we have antibiotics, you just take a pill for a few days, and you’re totally cured. Modern medicine has done better than the body’s natural disease-fighting abilities.

In mental health, we’re not so advanced yet. People with “infections,” in the form of , suffer for years or lifetimes – depression, OCD, addictions, even suicide. The cures are still relatively primitive. Talk therapy can take a long time to resolve problems. Medications like antidepressants control the symptoms, but they don’t really cure the underlying emotional issues.

Wouldn’t it be great if someone developed a way to quickly detoxify the brain? I’ve imagined that if someone could study brain waves of what happens in therapy, and then stimulate the brain in the same way, maybe people could have quick and lasting relief from their emotional problems. Nowadays some doctors do use electroconvulsive therapy, but that’s sort of like hitting the reset button on a computer, and the problems can come back. I wish there was a more controlled, painless way to free people from painful emotional conditions for good.

Chloe Adisson answers:

Were working on it.

Jenny asks…

Should I start smoking pot again?

PLEASE READ BEFORE ANSWERING!

I’ll try to make it short and sweet. PLEASE HELP!

Any ways. I’ve always had problems socially. I never really fit in due to my awkward personality and horrible social graces. I just had a disposition people didn’t like as a young girl. Growing up I had friends but being so problematic we parted ways or we’d just stop talking. I started smoking pot when I was 15, roughly a month before my 16th birthday (I am 21 now) and at first it made me a giggling, happy, social butterfly and I enjoyed it alot. But later on it started making me paranoid and giving me anxiety and it made me think of death and just became a scary , unenjoyable thing. It made me paranoid about people and very self-conscious about how I looked. But for some reason I kept doing it. It came to a point where I could only smoke pot alone because around other people I couldn’t enjoy myself cause my anxiety would go out of control. Alone I didn’t get too anxious but I still felt some anxiety there. It gave me horrible anxiety, I’ve ALWAYS had anxiety, but I feel pot amplified it. The reason I would keep smoking pot is because I wanted it to be the way it was when I first started and I thought maybe I’m just going through a phase with it and eventually I’ll start enjoying it again, and once in a blue moon it would give me that good feeling so I was willing to roll the dice and smoke pot just to possibly get that feeling again….

Long story short. I am a loner with no social skills. I dont know where I went wrong to end up like that but I feel the pot didn’t help and got my anxiety out of whack.

I want to work on becoming social and less of a neurotic anxious freak. I quit smoking pot but i’m thinking, the weed already did its damage… What good will it do to stop now?

If I keep off weed will I detoxify? Will all those weird paranoid thoughts I have unravel and will my brain go back to normal?

Will quiting really help me become more “normal?”

Chloe Adisson answers:

Well, you shouldn’t smoke pot in the first place. It only gives you a false sense that you’re happy and okay and that your life isn’t like it really is. Quit smoking it. Maybe if you start joining more clubs and really, really, trying to socialize, you might feel it lot better. Good luck!

Aromatherapy Recipes Questions Answered

Share

William asks…

Where can I find blend recipes?

I’m looking for aromatherapy recipes with oils for various things.

What is a good website to use?
I’m not a beginner with Aromatherapy. I’m very well aware of everything. I’m looking to gather more recipes and websites. I’m NOT looking to BUY PRODUCTS. I have a great collection of my own and supplies.

:

OK great question—I happen to be an expert on aromatherapy.

First let’s review the definition of AROMATHERAPY: massage of body or face using preparations of fragrant essential oils extracted from fruits, herbs, or flowers. Aromatherapy also includes INHALING these fragrances for health and wellness. You ask for “aromatherapy blend recipes” which is pretty general. Better to ask what your PURPOSE is? Do you plan to use it for massage oils, giving facials, a beauty foot treatment, or for inhalation like making candles or in a diffuser? Keep in mind some essential oils clash and are NOT CHEMICALLY compatible! Be careful. Also be aware of allergic reactions. Having said that, do not (and I repeat DO NOT) use synthetic or “fake” essential oil fragrances. The health and beauty benefits only happen with true, genuine essential oils.

Remember “aromatherapy” is based on and around ESSENTIAL OILS themselves. So the more knowledge you gain about them is basically what will help you determine, choose, or create your perfect recipes. Aromatherapy works by application on the skin (such as massage or facial) or can be inhaled (as in aromatherapy candles or ). For example, my dentist used a Lavender Essential Oil diffuser on my first visit, when I had to have major dental work done—it was simply amazing how calm and wonderful it made me feel. PLUS it smelled simply heavenly!

In your search for recipes, you need to consider your primary reason for how your blended recipes will be used. Will you use them for massage body oils? Are you thinking of facials? Will you use them for making diffuser blends to be inhaled? Determine THAT before you begin your search, then visit a number of websites that offer “therapeutic grade” essential oils. Also, keep in mind, pure essential oils are usually FAR too potent to use directly on the skin. Most “carrier” oils suit the bill here. Jojoba is my favorite but Grape Seed Oil or even Olive Oil are good carrier oil bases. Many websites offer research articles on scientific studies about the healing properties of essential oils like: which oils blend best together, whatever ailment(s) being sought to alleviate, or of well-being you’re trying to achieve.

There are a myriad of excellent websites out there. Explore some and see what works best for you. However, I can personally recommend two, which I have used for many years. They are both reliable, reputable, and reasonable basic sources for information and products and you’ll see them in my “Source” referenced where I give credit.

Donna asks…

Does anyone know of any good websites that contain aromatherapy recipes for skincare?

I wish to use a base cream?

Chloe Adisson answers:

This is a good link, it is about skin care. It is my site.

As for aromatherapy, that will depend upon your skin type.

If you email me your skin type [oily, dry, or other] I can send you some aromatherapy recipes for your skin.

Michael asks…

does anybody know any aromatherapy recipes using household products?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Crush 2 tablespoons of dried mint leaves and blend with 1/2 cup coarse salt for scented bath salts. Can substitute dried rose petals, honeysuckle flowers, lavender buds, chopped lemon rind, etc. Also try borax powder or epsom salts instead of salt, for different effect.

Make body oil using 2 ounces dried herbs* and 1 pint vegetable oil (grapeseed oil works well). Chop herbs very fine, place in glass container and add just enough oil to cover. Heat oil for about 5 hours at about 80 degrees F. Use a slow cooker set at lowest temp, a double boiler, gas oven with pilot light, or outdoors in sun. (Sun takes 2 to 3 days, depending on ambient temperature.) Put oil through a fine kitchen strainer, pressing out with the back of a spoon. If necessary, re-strain using a paper coffee filter. Stored in a cool place, herbal oil will keep several months; stored in the fridge, even longer.

*Lavender, chamomile, chickweed and calendula are good for skin. Rose is good for mature skin. Rosemary is stimulating. Basil is soothing for cramps, especially digestive. Fennel seed is good for PMS.

Sharon asks…

Anybody have any good recipes for aromatherapy stuff?

Like soaps, scent pillows, etc

Chloe Adisson answers:

Aromatherapy uses essential oils extracted from nature’s herbs and flowers. The aroma is inhaled, or applied to the skin, and each of the oils (or combination thereof) addresses a specific disorder. It appears that the body is able to utilize the healing properties of the oils through the olfactory system of the body, and so initiate the healing process. Aromatherapy practitioners would also have an understanding of the psychological and emotional factors of illness.

This website has some great information, recipes and articles about Aromatherapy.

Detoxify Liver Questions Answered

Share

Ken asks…

Detoxify Liver?

What is a reasonably good way to detoxify my liver? I feel I have some questionable symptoms (chronic rashes, sinus infections, breakouts, fatique, strange food reaction, strange taste in my mouth all the time) that may mean I need to take care of my liver (?) Anyone know a way I can do that?

:

I don’t see any way in which these very vague symptoms could be related to liver disease. Perhaps you became scared after reading something about liver detox? Sorry, but there simply is no justification for detoxification.

Chris asks…

How does the liver detoxify blood and maintain glucose balance?

Chloe Adisson answers:

The liver takes toxins that our body makes or that
come into the body and converts them to a non
toxic form that the body can easily dispose of.

Let take alcohol, as an example.
The liver usings it’s cells enzymes, will convert
alcohol first into acetaldehyde, then into acetate,
and then into CO2 and water.

What happens when a person consumes too much
alcohol, the liver cannot convert it fast enough pass
the first stage and it becomes toxic to the liver cells
and can cause damage to them.
This is an example of a possible toxin coming into
the body.

Now for an example of a toxin made in the body.
When we use proteins in our body, a byproduct is
formed. That is ammonia. The liver would normally
take this ammonia and convert it in urea for the kidneys
to pick up and remove it from the body in the urine.
People who have liver disease where the cells of the
liver have died off, this function doesn’t happen
efficiently and so the ammonia stays in the blood and
goes into the brain and causes confusion and disorientation.

So, you can see that the liver handles toxins in the body.
…..
When we eat, the foods are broken down into fats,
carbohydrates, and proteins (amino acids). These
are absorbed into the blood from the intestines and
go to the liver. Our cells use glucose as its main
source of energy. So, the liver will supply this
glucose to the body, even by converting the carbohydrates
first, the proteins second and the fats third into glucose.
If the cells have enough energy, the liver will then convert
the glucose into glycogen and be stored in the liver till
it is needed. It is converted back to glucose when the
cells need more energy (usually between meals)

.

Mark asks…

Im in the Uk what type of Milk thistle would you recommend to detoxify liver and support bile production? The?

ones from the supermarkets dont contain enough of the active ingredient.
thanks

Chloe Adisson answers:

Total poppycock. The liver is the organ that deals with toxins, you cannot detoxify it! Unfortunately the whole concept of detox is an urban myth. It is based solely on the irrational rants of constipated Edwardians who refused to eat vegetables as the considered them food only fit for the lower classes to consume. As a result they had little option but to spend their time taking laxatives and purgatives and giving themselves enemas. Provided you have not already done too much damage to your body, your liver and kidneys will deal with problem of removing toxins from your body, as that was what they were designed to do. After that, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life and you can start afresh.

Steven asks…

What is the best way to detoxify ones liver? And what are the benefits?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Dandelion tea works wonders on a sluggish liver (the primary filtering organ of the body), gall bladder (which produces bile to assist the digestion of fatty foods) and spleen ( an organ producing new red blood cels), and it also encourages bowel action and reduces fluid retention. Drinking Dandelion tea is one of the most effective ways to detox your body, because it stimulates digestive enzymes and bile to allow the easier metabolism of fatty foods.

Dandelion leaves, alfalfa, aspargus, celery and vitamin B6 can all work as natural diuretics.

Dandelion tea is excellent for ridding the body of excess fluid because, as the tea leaves contain high amounts of potassium, the body is not depleted of this important mineral through the diuretic effect of the tea?

Ensure, for therapeutic purposes, that you buy organic Dandelion leaf as the commercial or teabag varieties have had so much of their oils pulverised from them. Another reason to use organic is one of the properties of the Dandelion plant is to absorb metal pollutants from the atmosphere ~ as such organic really is . Add honey to taste if you like as the taste can be quite bitter ….. Or lemons or limes if you like the tartness?;

2 – 3 teaspoons per teapot would be sufficient?By buying the organic variety, the essential oils are still so potent that the spent leaves could be reused 2 – 3 times ~ simply refill the pot with hot water and rebrew for 15 – 20 minutes.?

Limit your intake of Dandelion tea to a period of say 2 – 3 weeks at a time …….. Have rest periods in between using it ?

Perhaps this link may be of use to you ~

http://www.detoxaustralia.com.au/supplementing_your_.htm

Water, water water …. Ensure that you also hydrate your body properly with at least 2 – 3 litres of water per day as nothing substitutes for pure fresh water?

Try to cut back on dehydrating drinks such as coffee, tea, sodas and soft drinks and alcohol (if you drink any of these) as they will not only dehydrate you terribly but also rob you of your essential B complex of vitamins.

Take a multi B complex supplement also…. To support healthy immune, neural and digestive functioning…… Great for bolstering your body to deal with life’s every day stressy situation …. Get one including all the B’s ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 andB12 etc. As they all work best as a group. Don’t buy any of the B complex of vitamins individually but rather as a whole group, unless specifically told to do so buy a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath ?

Please also ensure that you consult with a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath or herbalist before using Dandelion herb if you are pregnant or breastfeeding and do not use on infants or young children ?

Try to cut out all junky and pre packaged foods and eat food as freshly and as close to its natural state as you possibly can…… Pump your intake of leafy and green vegies (rich in magnesium and foods rich in magnesium will help to bolster healthy nerve and muscle functioning thus aiding in any issues with constipation you may have), vegies, fresh fruits, wholegrain cereals and breads, cold water fishes (also rich in magnesium) and organic lean meats ?

Hope this info helps you a bit?

Good health to you & yours?

CHEERS
?

Betty asks…

what is the best way to naturally detoxify your liver?

Chloe Adisson answers:

The best (and easiest and cheapest!) thing you can do is to eat a diet of at least 75% raw foods. (Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, fresh juices, lots of filtered water.)

Keep the colon clean to facilitate toxin elimination from the liver: Eating plenty of raw fibrous vegetables, like carrots, celery and cauliflower, will sweep out your colon nicely.

Foods high in Vitamin K (leafy greens, alfalfa sprouts) are especially beneficial.

Eat plenty of raw almonds, Brazil nuts, coconut, walnuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, or pumpkin seeds. These contain arginine, an amino acid which helps to detoxify ammonia, a by-product of protein digestion which accumulates in the liver.

Avoid processed foods, red meat, alcohol, caffeine and medications where possible.

101.9 Questions Answered

Share

George asks…

What was the initial volume of the system if the internal energy of the system decreased by 101.9 J?

The final volume of the system is 58.0 L.

:

Assume in constant temperature condition,

W = P (V’ – V)

-101.9 + 52.5 = (0.5 * 1.01 * 10^5) (58/1000 – V)

V = 0.058978217821782178218 m³

V = 58.97 L

Sandra asks…

How do I make mp3 files louder without affecting the quality?

I have an mp3 player and I’d like to adjust the volume. I know i’ll never get them as loud as a nightclub but i’d like them as loud as possible without any quality distortion. I’m currently using MP3Gain but sometimes when I adjust the volume it kinda “crackles”?

I have the volume adjustment set to 101.9 db. The default is 89.0.

Please help :)

Chloe Adisson answers:

You need better headphones, the higher quality the headphones, the better the sound.
Sounds like your headphones are “maxing” out.

Got a pair of Phillips headphones for around $10 US and they will push 120 db easy.

Lizzie asks…

When did baseball start tracking how fast the ball was going?

Im sure there is a pitch faster than 101.9

Chloe Adisson answers:

Bob feller had his pitches clocked on radar way back in the late 40′s/early 50′s, but the jugs gun wasn’t widely used until the 70′s….

Donna asks…

What is the best over the counter medicine for an upset stomach?

i think i may have the stomach flu but i am not sure i have been vommiting and i have a fever of 101.9 and 100.2 and i need medicine but am not sure what to take

Chloe Adisson answers:

Vomiting only?
The peptobismol route is pretty safe, I thiink but if it happened to me personally, I would do the cornstarch and 7up home remedy first. It consists of 1 tbsp of clean fresh cornstarch ( not from the open box to deodorize the fridge) in a cup and 1/2 cup of 7 up. Drink while still fizzling.

Others are telling me that the fresh sliced ginger and a spoonful of honey is better. Pour half a cup of hot water on those , stir and drink while hot.

By now you can tell that people have their favorite remedies.

If diarrhea comes into the picture, the remedy is different too.

Most people simply chew on antiacids such as tums for an upset stomach.

Nancy asks…

My daughter has a fever what should I do?

My daughter is 22 months old with a 101.9 temp and still going up. I have given her motrin at home and called the Dr office. She has no other symptoms besides the fever. I spoke with the nurse at my peditricians office and she told me that since there are no other symptoms that I should just treat her fever at home. She said that there is no need to see her. The problem I have with that is the fact that when she has a sore throat or ear infection her fever doesn’t respond to over the counter meds and we end up in the ER with a fever of 103 or higher. There are several walkin clinics in town that I am able to take her to. My question is…..If she was your daughter what would you do?

Chloe Adisson answers:

If her fever doesn’t respond to the Motrin, you could always give acetaminophen (Tylenol) on top of that. The active ingredients aren’t the same, so it’s safe to use both of them. I would wait a couple of hours after giving the motrin though. A temp. Of 102 or 103 is not unsafe for her, unless she has a history of febrile seizures. Fever does not indicate how sick your child is, only that she is fighting an infection. If her fever lasts for more than a day or two or gets very high (over 104) then I would insist she be seen.

Aromatherapy Nebulizing Diffusers – What Are Diffusers and How Do You Use Them for Aromatherapy

Share

is a healing modality that is both powerful and very enjoyable because of the delicious scents of most oils. But how do you use it? Read on about one of the most intense ways to administer treatments.

Among the many ways to use aromatherapy, there’s one that is perfect if you want to saturate the air with the scent and breathe it in every time you inhale: Aromatherapy . There are other types of , but the nebulizing one is the kind you want when you really want intense effects.

What do nebulizing diffusers do?

What makes a nebulizing diffuser different from a regular one is that it literally atomizes the essential oil into drops that are well, like water droplets in a fog: beyond tiny. These are then sprayed into the air for an intense therapeutic experience. This method also allows for the most intense fragrance.

It’s the solution of choice for aromatherapy oils that are meant to purify the environment, such as the rooms where someone has been coughing.

What kinds of oils can you diffuse in a nebulizer?

You should only use pure essential oils, and only those that are very liquid. Some oils have a more syrup-like or honey-like consistency (without the stickiness) and would just clog up the diffuser.

And while it might make sense to take those more substantial oils and mix them with carrier oil, that’s not recommended. Only pure essential oils, not oils mixed with carrier oils can be used.

How much oil will it use?

With some essential oils costing hundreds of dollars per ounce, you may want to know just how much oil diffusers will use. As it turns out, they do use quite a bit more than regular diffusers, about 3 milliliter per hour. Of course, that accounts for the intensity of the effect.

On the positive side, you won’t have to run the diffuser for hours at a time. Usually, 15 minutes is plenty to thoroughly saturate the room with the therapeutic vapor. Then repeat the treatment about two to three times a day for an optimal effect.

How complicated is it to maintain a nebulizer?

Fortunately, nebulizers are very easy to clean and maintain. Once you’ve run your nebulizer for the desired time, you can just take off the glass from the pump and pour any remaining oil back into its bottle. You can clean the glass by rinsing it out with rubbing alcohol, which costs just pennies.

To make your aromatherapy treatments even more powerful, consider combining them with EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).
