Aloe Vera Juice Questions Answered

Share

David asks…

What step should I apply aloe vera juice to my ?

I have natural 4b/c hair. When should I apply aloe vera juice to my hair?
I normally co-wash then apply care free curl gold, then seal with extra virgin olive oil. I may go back to using shea butter after the oil.

But when does the aloe juice come into play?

Chloe Adisson answers:

I apply aloe vera juice to my hair, but not alone. The aloe vera juice is really moisturizing, and it lowers the ph of your hair. The mix that i usually use is a leave in (usually Kinky Curly Knot Today), aloe vera juice, jojoba oil, and castor oil. I got this mix from KimmayTube on YouTube – she’s a natural who worked for a while to come up with this mixture. I use it as a leave in after washing, and i tweak it to use it as a daily moisturizer sometimes too. You can tweak it to your liking, but the addition of the aloe vera juice does WONDERS for the hair. Hope this helps!

Laura asks…

What are the benefits of ALOE VERA JUICE if you put it in your horses grain as a supplement?

I have a 10 year old thoroughbred gelding that is very high strung. And I heard that Aloe Vera Juice is a good thing to put in horses grain that are like that. (He is an ex-race horse and is prone to ulcers.)

So what are the benefits of putting Aloe Vera Juice in your horses grain as a supplement?

How much Aloe Vera Juice should I put in his grain every morning?

Thank you for answering!!!! =]

Chloe Adisson answers:

Although I haven’t ever tried it with my horses, I have heard that Aloe Vera mixes can increase stamina and energy. But I have also heard that it can help joints (especially since it has anti inflammitory properties), kill some kinds of viruses, bacteria, and fungi, increase blood flow, and decrease thh risk of ulcers due to stress.

Most of the Aloe Vera products I have seen for equines are in a mixed form, never just out of the plant, probably for a few reasons:
1) You might need a larger quantity on the long term than what is easily available in a single plant.
2) The properties of aloe vera alone could be enhanced with other minerals and supplements; thus it is convienently placed in a mixed form.
3) It smells horrible and your horse might not eat it without it being ‘disguised’. If I were a horse, I wouldn’t eat it.

Just three ideas as to why when people add aloe vera to their horses diet it is not in its raw form. As always, I would consult a knowledgeable veterinarian! Hope this helps!

Susan asks…

What are the benefits of drinking aloe vera juice?

Is it safe to drink aloe vera juice in any form if I have been diagnosed with divertivular disease?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Yes completely safe………It is healing to all internal organs.
Also improves skin….It helps to cleanse….good for heart
They sell in Health Stores…buy pure juice or jel …I like the jel
seems more economical and mix it with juiced fruit and veg.
It has the thicker consistance of pediolite, so is hard to drink by itself.

Mark asks…

How much aloe vera juice should I drink each day?

I just bought aloe vera juice as a dietary supplement and I was wondering how much I should drink each day. Any other dietary supplements that people suggest would be helpful too, thanks!

Chloe Adisson answers:

Are you taking it for any specific condition (e.g. Constipation), or just for general wellness?

For constipation, I would recommend starting with 1/4 cup 2-3 times per day. You can adjust from there depending on how your body reacts.

As a wellness supplement, would recommend 2 Tbsp 1x/day.

Charles asks…

How do you make plane Aloe Vera Juice?

I have some Aloe Vera Plants in the back garden.
I am intrested in the Aloe vera juice you get from the supermarket.
I was wondering if you can make some nice but just plain Aloe vera juice.
Giving 10 points to the best answer.
The plants have been their for 12 or so years.
Not sure if they are too old to make juice?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Get fresh leaves (or what you’d call them), and remove the green, outer “peel” (again, for lack of a better word).

Blend the moist center, and add flavour if you like.

Detoxifying Questions Answered

Share

Lizzie asks…

detoxifying?

Can you really lose weight by detoxifying your body? What do you do in order to detoxify?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Short answer, yes you can but it is absolutely NOT the point of detox to lose weight. All the weight you “lose” will come back on, and quickly at that since it is water weight. Focus on eating less of the bad stuff and more of the good and you will achieve both. Detoxing to lose weight is dangerous and ineffective, please don’t do it. If you want to detox for health or spiritual reasons, there is a huge amount of information available for you to read. Please also seek the help of someone in the medical or alternative medicine field.

Ruth asks…

Detoxifying.?

I am interested in detoxifying my body. How do I go about to do this? Is there any meds I should take?

Chloe Adisson answers:

A full detox will take about 30 days. You need to detox the liver, colon, blood, and lymph system. The most non-invasive way is with herbs. I recommend this because general detox kits over the counter contain synthetic chemicals that re-introduce poisons to your system. When detoxing you will feel really bad about 4-5 days into the detox. This is normal and it shows that the toxins are breaking free and being flushed from your body. You will feel progressively better from that point on. Drink plenty of water! This helps flush the debris.

Laura asks…

How do I make a detoxifying pedicure at home?

My ankles and feet are puffy and I know it’s because I’m wearing yucky flip flops and going barefoot since the weather turned warm. How can I make a detoxifying foot bath/pedicure soak at home?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Aloe Vera. Or maybe cucumber.

Sandy asks…

What should I do to take care of my skin after a detoxifying mask?

I just used a detoxifying mask on my face and I want to know what I should do to take care of my skin after using it. I have used it before (once a week for 5 weeks now). And it’s pretty good at getting out blackheads (or at least making them less visible) and I want to try to keep them away.

Thank you!

Chloe Adisson answers:

My first question is what brand of mask was it? What are the active ingredients and purpose of the mask?

What kind of skin do you have? Always use a toner immediately after cleansing your face. The toner brings your skin’s PH balance back. The acid mantel on your skin takes 20 minutes to rebuild and that time, any bacteria can enter your pores and cause an infection. This can cause acne and blackheads. The acid mantel is a barrier on your skin to protect against harmful bacteria. The toner helps rebuild this. So cleanse twice daily, use toner immediately after and always use an SPF and moisturizer.

Do you see an Esthetician for facials? It’s best to leave extractions to a professional who has the correct knowledge and tools to do this. You of course can do them at home if you know what you’re doing. If you do not know how to extract the blackheads, you can scar your skin.

At home regimens with masks is a great thing to do but only if you have minor amounts of blackheads. If you have excessive blackheads, it’s best to see an Esthetician for facials and product. The massage portion of the facials also helps with blood circulation to your skin which is helpful with blackheads and pimples.

Exfoliating is another important step during a facial. Here are the steps of a basic facial:

#1 cleanse
#2 tone
#3 exfoliate
#4 tone
#5 dis incrustation—product used to liquify the sebum (oil) glands to prepare for extractions (popping pimples and blackheads)
#6 with warm towels or (opens the pores)
#7 perform extractions
#8 tone
#9 facial massage
#10 tone
#11 hydrating mask
#12 tone
#13 SPF and moisturize

I hope this helps you. If you cannot afford to see an Esthetician for a facial, check into Esthetics schools in your area. They are normally in conjunction with Cosmetology schools. The facials are significantly cheaper. :-)

Mary asks…

Is there any good recipe for a detoxifying drink that you can make at home?

Any recipes for a detoxifying drink (that works) that doesn’t taste like crap? Anything without ginger in it? Is there any tea I can drink?

P.S. No half-ass answers please

Chloe Adisson answers:

Yes. Boil water, and squeeze lemon juice in it, wait for it to cool down and drink it. Drink it while its still hot.

Detoxify Or Die Questions Answered

Share

Lizzie asks…

Can i put water conditioner in plain tap water and put fish in it?

will they die if i don’t wait 3 weeks for the water to detoxify itself? or can i fill it up, put conditioner in, and put a convict in? without it dieing.
oh and i Live in the seattle area so the water is pretty good.

Chloe Adisson answers:

Yes.
What you should do is treat the tap water with prime, stress coat, amquel plus, Weco Instant DeChlor or any other conditioner that will make tap water safe for fish.
Your gonna need to remove chlorine, chloramine, and heavy metals that can be toxic to your fish.
I personally use and prefer weco instant dechlor since you only add to tiny drops per gallon and then stir it a little and then let it sit for 10 minutes and then Pour the treated tap water in your tank. The best part is the little ounce last about 1000 gallons and it was only 2.50 dollars at my local pet store.

Sandra asks…

What do I do if my goldfish has been poisoned by chlorine?

I just bought a new aquarium, goldfish, gravel, everything but forgot to add the thing that makes chlorine go away. He has only been exposed to the chlorine for at most 2 hours and I realized this when he stopped moving but he’s still breathing. I put him into a bowl of detoxified water and I’m trying to get him to recover. What can I do or is he already going to die from being exposed?
He survived.

Chloe Adisson answers:

First, before adding fish you should of cycled your tank. Since you already added your fish you must do a cycle with fish. Learn about the nitrogen cycle here: http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm

The link above is very helpful. I would get water conditioner as soon as you can and add it to his tank. Then it should be more safe than before, although it isn’t cycled.

A common goldfish needs 75 gallons when fully grown, and a fancy goldfish needs 30 gallons with double filtration, (ex: 30 gallon tank, 60 gallon filter)

Good Luck, and Hope this Helps.

Ruth asks…

9 days till the wedding and I’ve broken out in a red rash!?

It’s 9 days until my brother’s wedding, and I’ve broken out in a rash of red dots all over my chest and neck. I thought they were pimples, so I tried using more acne medicine (I have oily, troublesome skin to begin with) and it just made it worse. I tried using only dove soap and aloe to give my skin so time to heal, it just got worse. I tried cucumbers, cortizone cream, every home remedy I could find online. I’ve even been drinking a gallon of water a day to try and detoxify my system. NO DICE!
I’m supposed to perform at the ceremony and my dress is strapless (and beautiful) but I’m ready to throw it away and wear a bag over my head.
Any tips on either getting the rash to lessen/disappear or any types of makeup that will cover it without making it worse?

Thanks!!

Chloe Adisson answers:

Use dermablend make up you can get it at ULTA

Mark asks…

any fruitarians around?

A friend sent this to me ~ Pretty Interesting!

Eating Fruit – this opened my eyes.

Dr Stephen Mak is a friend of mine at the BSF course. He treats terminal ill cancer patients by “un-orthodox” way and many patients recovered. He explains to me before he is using solar energy to clear the illnesses of his patients. He believes on healing in the body against illnesses. See the article below.

Thanks for the email on fruits and juices. It is one of the strategies to heal cancer. As of late, my success rate in curing cancer is about 80%. Cancer patients shouldn’t die. The cure for cancer is already found. It is whether you believe it or not. I am sorry for the hundreds of cancer patients who die under the conventional treatments.
Thanks and God bless.
Dr Stephen Mak

EATING FRUIT…

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It’s not as easy as you think. It’s important to know how and when to eat.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.
If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let’s say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.

In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil….

So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining — every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc — actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying , balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice – drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don’t even drink juice that has been heated up. Don’t eat cooked fruits because you don’t get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE : Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene — the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this?? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this ‘sludge’ reacts with the acid, it will break down

Chloe Adisson answers:

This sounds very suspicious. I do not disagree for a moment that fruit is very good stuff. However, much of the reasoning in this sounds a lot like pseudoscience and quackery.
Examples:

“Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this??”
No. Frankly I am cannot. The causes of cancer are very complex and to make such simplistic statements is nonsensical.

“Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.”
These are extremely large and general claims. Since they seem too good to be true, they probably are.

“If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight. ”
As for the last point. Note also that claims like ‘happiness’ and ‘health’ are very vague and would be difficult to prove anyway.

“If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it.”
Why should it need to mix with the saliva? Why would that help? Saliva breaks down starch into sugar. It also begins the process of breaking down fats. Most fruits have insignificant starch and fat content. So, what would saliva do to be so beneficial.

I must say that I tend to eat fruit before eating anything else anyway. Not because of all this nonsense. Just because, while I am getting the water boiling for macaroni, toasting bread etc, I eat it as a snack. Will doing so magically ward off cancer? I doubt it.

Mandy asks…

Why are humans the only species that pollutes to the detriment of life? Can’t blame that on God can we?

Since all other life on this planet is unaware of wastes they create,…….then why is it never a detriment to earths ecological system?

It is a living mechanical circulatory system isn’t it? It shows there is an organized design of a Supreme Creator.

Most animals and fish contribute waste to their environments that are essentially the same as human waste (fecal matter laden with bacteria and reduced compounds). If the population of an environment exceeded the capability of the environment to neutralize or at least tolerate those wastes, certain organisms will begin to die. This limit is known as the “carrying capacity” of the environment. In general, nature is wise enough to not naturally reach this limit in most instances, such that most systems can self regulate themselves and avoid reaching this limit.
There are examples of individual organisms that can excrete specific pollutants or toxins into an environment, usually as a defense mechanism. There are also plenty of examples of organisms that can detoxify and store pollutants from an environment in their bodies, making the overall environment “safer” (until the organism dies, at which point some toxins can be re-released to the environment).

Chloe Adisson answers:

People always think they know best until they find out they have made a total mess of things. Then they still persist oftentimes. Selfishness and greed often cause these problems and the foolish thought that everything will sort itself out. A radical rethink is often what is needed and appropriate action to follow.

The LORD God has given us such a beautiful world yet so many do not value it until it’s too late.

Aloe Vera Juice Benefits Questions Answered

Share

David asks…

Aloe Vera Juice ? What are the Benefits of Drinking Aloe Vera Juice?

I would like to know for sure what are the health benefits for drinking aloe vera juice. I need solid comments and no BS, please. I found a website that gave me lots of information at http://squidoo.com/aloe-vera-juice-benefit
but want to hear what others have to say. thanks in advance.

Chloe Adisson answers:

The website you mentioned is an awesome site. I can’t think of any more information that you might need.

My own personal experiences with aloe vera juice has been great. It has cleared up my IBS symptoms, helped me to lose weight and has healed my stomach ulcers.

Store bought aloe juice is not as potent as making your own, so I would suggest to review the site you mentioned a learn how to juice the plant yourself.

Another good site is http://www.aloeandyou.com

Here are just a few more tips that you might like:

Here is a list of the top ten benefits of drinking aloe vera juice:

1. Detox

With our stressful lives, the pollution around us and the junk foods we eat, we need to detox and cleanse our systems. Drinking aloe vera juice provides a rich cocktail of vitamins, minerals and trace elements to help our bodies deal with everyday stresses.

2. Immune Support

Aloe vera is full of anti-oxidants – natural immune enhancers which fight free radicals within our body. Free radicals are thought to cause various ailments, as well as speeding up the ageing process. Drinking aloe vera juice regularly gives the body a continual supply of anti-oxidants, which may boost and enhance the immune system.

3. Healthy Digestion and Digestive Problems

A healthy digestive tract ensures that nutrients from the foods we eat are absorbed fully into our bloodstream. Aloe vera juice has natural detoxifying abilities. Drinking aloe vera juice seems to improve bowel regularity and increases protein absorption, while at the same time decrease unfriendly bacteria and yeast – all naturally. Aloe vera has shown it can help reduce and soothe heartburn and other digestive upsets.

4. Reduces Inflammation

Aloe vera juice contains 12 substances which can slow down or inhibit inflammation, without any side-effects. Some people say that drinking aloe vera juice helps with their stiff, swollen or painful joints.

5. Regulates Weight and Energy Levels

Aloe vera juice naturally allows the body to cleanse the digestive system. Our diets include many substances which can cause lethargy and exhaustion. Taken regularly, aloe vera juice ensures a greater feeling of well-being, allowing energy levels to increase and helps maintain a healthy body weight.

6. Daily Dose of Vitamins & Minerals

Aloe vera juice contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12 (the aloe vera plant is one of the few plants in the world to contain vitamin B12), C, E, Folic Acid and Niacin. The human body cannot store some of these vitamins, so we need to supplement them regularly through our diet. The minerals found in aloe vera include Calcium, Sodium, Iron, Potassium, Manganese, Copper, Zinc, Magnesium, Chromium.

7. Collagen and Elastin Repair for Healthy Skin

Drinking aloe vera juice adds a rich supply of raw materials to your diet, which can produce and maintain really healthy skin. The skin replaces itself every 28 days. Using the nutritional building blocks of aloe vera, the skin can use these nutrients daily to help combat the effects of ageing. Aloe vera also helps in soothing minor burns, cuts, scrapes and skin irritations.

8. Amino Acids

The human body requires 20 amino acids to build protein; 8 of these amino acids are ‘essential’ which means the body can’t make them itself. Aloe vera contains 19 of these amino acids, and 7 of the essential amino acids. So drinking aloe vera juice tops up your body’s daily supply.

9. Dental Health and Hygiene

Aloe vera is extremely helpful for your mouth and gums. As well as its natural anti-bacterial and anti-microbial actions, it contains vitamins and minerals which promote cell growth and healing. There are some toothgels available which contain a high level of pure aloe vera, which may help with bleeding gums and mouth ulcers.

10. Better than Supplements

Recent research has shown that adding good foods to our diets, with naturally occurring vitamins and minerals, is far better than adding supplements alone. The good news is that Aloe Vera juice is considered a food, rather than a manufactured supplement, so our bodies can absorb all the nutrients more easily, and utilize them more effectively.

The have long been known. It has been used historically as a soothing balm, applied externally for cuts, scrapes and burns. Modern uses of aloe vera are extensive.

The health benefits of aloe vera taken internally include: improved circulation, regulation of blood pressure, promotes healing of bones and joints, strengthens the immune system, defends the body against bacteria, heals internal tissue damage, heals ulcers, improves and even eliminates constipation, blood sugar regulation, and reduces itchiness in psoriasis helping it to heal.

Drinking two to four ounces a day is all that is required to gain the many benefits of aloe vera juice. If you drink it daily, aloe vera can aid your digestion, improve your circulation and det

Helen asks…

What are some benefits to Aloe Vera juice?

What’s all the hype about Aloe Vera juice?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Aloe vera was the big thing back in the days dating far back from queen cleopatra. Supposedly she used aloe vera extract for her and skin. Aloe vera was also used to treat wounds back in the day.

Sandy asks…

What are the benefits of Aloe Vera Juice? Will it help me lose weight and constipation?

Any info you may have is much appreciated. Thanks very much.

Chloe Adisson answers:

Taking in aloe vera juice will cure constipation like ::snaps fingers:: that!
Weight has more to do with eating right–not restricting–and exercising right…but the juice will help because it will help things moving along inside!

Carol asks…

Has anyone used Aloe Vera for its health benefits? If so have you had good results?

Peppermint, Rosemary, Sage, Savoury, St John’s Wort, Tansy, Thyme< Wintergreen, Wormwood.

These oils aside, aromatherapy can be used very safely and be extremely beneficial to maintain the general health of the expectant mother, to aid in minimising the discomforts associated with pregnancy as follows.

MORNING SICKNESS:

Choose chemical and preservatives free fresh food. Eat small portions often during the day. Avoid heavy meals late at night and junk food. Ginger tea herbal infusion is a safe and effective remedy.

Peppermint tea is better avoided.

BACKACHE:

Lower back pain is common as the pregnancy advances due to the increase in weight of the baby and changing body shape. A massage with essential oils will bring great relief and help to tone the muscles. The lower back should be massaged lightly during the first four months, during this time though back ache is not always a problem, it is usually after the six month period and then a firm massage is perfectly safe.

Neroli or Mandarin oil at 2% to a base oil say Almond, Apricot or Olive Oil or Stretch Mark Oil can be used which contain these essential oils along with a rich cocktail of base oils that penetrates deep into the skin.

TENDER BREASTS:

As the breasts expand during pregnancy they need extra care and attention. Use a gentle massage again with Stretch Mark Oil or a base oil with 2% essential oil, Neroli or Mandarin. If breasts are swollen, make a cool compress out of rosewater and place over the breast while resting.

BREASTFEEDING:

Essential oils can be very helpful in easing some of the discomforts of breastfeeding. Insufficiency of milk and cracked nipples are two of the main reasons that many mothers abandon breastfeeding. Engorgement can sometimes be the cause as well. To promote th flow of milk Fennel, Caraway, Dill and Aniseed is widely used mostly in the form of herbal tea infusions, fennel being the most popular choice.

To reduce the milk flow Peppermint oil can be used on cold compresses – Use a basin of water with 4-5 drops of essential oil use clean fabric or a washer and immerse in the water, wring out then place on the painful area.

It is IMPORTANT to wash off all traces of essential oils before feeding the baby. It is dangerous to give the oils to the baby internally even relatively safe oils.

CRACKED NIPPLES:

Can be extremely painful and slow to heal. Calendula is the most healing plant known for this condition. Some Nipple Butters contains Calendula and is safe to use whilst nursing. Apply the butter immediately after feeding so that the nipples have the maximum time to absorb the beneficial properties prior to the next feed.

Products containing lanolin are often used for cracked nipples but some tests have discovered traces of toxins in the lanolin from sheep dipping, so wise to avoid these products.

HEARTBURN:

Avoid rich, spicy foods and heavy meals. A Peppermint, Fennel or Chamomile tea infusion can speed up relief. A gentle massage of the stomach with a soothing oil such as Lavender, Chamomile or Marjoram will assisst.A hot compress using one of these oils can be placed over the stomach as often as needed. Just 2-3 drops in a basin of water for compress and the same with 50ml base oil.

SLEEP PROBLEMS:

The baby kicking and other discomforts in the last few months of pregnancy makes it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. A relaxing bath with stretch mark oil 10mls or a total of 6 drops of either Neroli or Rose pure essential oil in a bath before bedtime. The water should not be too hot as this is stimulating rather than relaxing.

An aromatherapy massage with stretch mark oil, the combination of gentle therapeutic touch and relaxing essential oils will work both on the mind and body to reduce the level of stress, and sleep will follow quite naturally.

CONSTIPATION:

Eating of high fibre foods, including plenty of fresh garlic and drinking ample filtered or bottled water is important during pregnancy to avoid constipation.

Aromatherapy treatments are complicated by the fact that many of the oils used in the treatment of circulatory problems are those to avoid during pregnancy. However, lemon essential oil at 2% dilution can be used to gently massage. Tension can also be a contributory factor, so try a relaxing bath using stretch mark oil or 6 drops total of neroli or rose.

STRETCH MARKS:

Massaging daily is an excellent way to reduce the risk or intensity of stretch marks during

pregnancy, Massage provides stimulation of the tissues underlying the superficial layers of the skin, using gentle strokes it is both effective and safe in pregnancy. Gently make small repetitive circles all over the tummy, thighs and breasts using a stretch mark oil regularly.

Continue massaging these areas after the birth for at least four months until your weight has returned to normal. Avoid stretch mark oil on the nipples if breastfeeding.

SWOLLEN ANKLES:

Swelling (Oedema) of the ankles and legs is often a problem in the latter months of pregnancy. If severe you should consult your Doctor in case there is a kidney problem, but mild puffiness of the ankles usually after standing or at the end of the day, can be effectively relieved by massaging the legs with one tablespoon of base oil to 2 drops of Geranium. Ideally this would be more beneficial carried out by a professional but you or your partner can apply the oil with firm strokes always moving from the ankles towards the thighs.

A cool to warm foot bath with 2 drops each of Benzoin, Orange and Rose can help reduce the swelling.

Rest the feet higher than the head on raised cushions or pillows.

Avoiding salt, stong tea, coffee will also help to reduce swelling, drinking plenty of bottled or filtered water is also advisable.

VARICOSE VEINS:

During pregnancy the bulk and weight of the growing baby can cause pressure on the veins and arteries of the lower abdomen, causing circulatory problems and the veins to dilate. One of the best oils for circulation is Geranium, but this should be very dilute for pregnancy. No more than 4 drops to one tablespoon of carrier oil, massaging the legs with a gentle upward movement. Do not work directly on the veins or apply too much pressure. You can also add 4 drops to your bath.

LABOUR;

To create a relaxing atmosphere in the labour room, use several drops of Lavender in an atomizer or Rose, Yang-Ylang or Neroli to fortify you as the labour progresses. Any of these oils can be used in a massage blend for the lower back to aid contractions.

POST NATAL:

Some can suffer from post-natal depression for up to a year after childbirth, some more severe than others. A bath with jasmine and ylang-ylang can help them feel better 3 drops of each. Or a massage with 5 drops each of Geranium, Orange, Chamomile..

To ease perineal pain Organic Bath Herbs, a collection of wound healing and anti-bacterial ingredients and essential oils with powerful antiseptic and healing benefits for internal wounds and stitches.

AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE

The simple touch of massage movements can help to relieve many of the stresses and discomfort of pregnancy, back massage in particular is very welcome during labour.

Aromatherapy techniques can be used very safely and beneficially to maintain the general health of the expectant mother. It aids with various discomforts during this time.

The positions to work in need to be adapted to suit her comfort, she needs to be well supported.

- Check the oils to be avoided

- Use lower concentrations of essential oil to base oil 1/2 to 1% is desired.

- Stokes should be lighter than usual for a massage.

- The back – massage can be done on a chair after the fourth month of pregnancy as it becomes uncomfortable to lie on her stomach, a chair or a pillow wrapped in a towel for her to hold in front for support.

- The abdomen – as the weight of the uterus can constrict the important blood vessels is the pregnant women is laying flat on her back, so she must be supported with plenty of pillows, bolsters or rolled towels to make her comfortable. Under the knees should be supported with cushions. After four months a gentle massage all over the abdomen can be very soothing, very often the developing baby responds to the massage given to the mother. Very often if the baby is lively and kicking causing discomfort to the mother will calm down and be quite for some time after. Babies whose mothers have received regular massages during pregnancy are usually very peaceful when they are born.

- The legs – Gently stroking the legs from the ankles to the knee to begin, then continue with firmer pressure is very soothing. It can relieve swelling, varicose veins or cramp. (See varicose veins for further information). Gentle stroking around the ankles is also appreciated. Avoid any reflex movements on the feet.

- Head – With both hands at the back of the neck at the base of the cranium, apply slow, light, circular pressures with your fingertips in an upward direction to release tension and to finish the massage.

Allow a 15 minute rest and then gently help her get up.
