Lice Remedies

I have worked with child services for many years. Through the years one of the problems that seems to occur time and time again is head lice. As the years go by we have learned many great lessons on how to best treat lice so that they do not reoccur. It seems that lice remedies come and go and we are learning that lice do become immune to the different treatments, especially if the treatments involve chemicals.

Recently we had a very critical situation occur with head lice in a foster home. The foster family has done care for our agency for many years. The family is licensed for 5 children. They have had a sibling group of three placed with them for nine months. These three children came from very neglectful conditions and were also abused by their mother and her boy friends. After the nine months in the loving structured home of the foster family the children were beginning to laugh and play and behave in healthier ways. The foster family was on call for emergency placements and they were needed to take in a brother and sister whose mother was arrested. There were no other family members available so the children needed to be placed in foster care. They had been found in filthy conditions in a home where drugs were being manufactured. The police brought the children to the foster home at 2:00 in the morning. The foster parents provided clean pajamas for the children and had them sleep in the living room area on the couches until they could rearrange space with the other children. It turned out that the children had extreme cases of head lice. The foster parents did not discover this until the next day when they were helping the children with bathes. By this time the other group of foster children had sat on the couches to watch television and to visit with the new arrivals. The lice quickly spread to everyone in the household. The foster mom called me in a panic because she knew that the shampoo used in most lice remedies would cause the three children to break out because they have severe allergies. She was also concerned about using the lice remedies for the bedding and couches. It was winter time and extremely cold outside. I told them to place the clothing, bedding, couches and pillows outdoors. I then took over the supplies for the latest lice remedies from the public health nurse. This included soaking the children's hair in olive oil and placing a plastic bag over the hair for several hours. The olive oil smothers the lice. This procedure as with all lice remedies had to be repeated at intervals to kill the eggs that the lice lay in the hair follicles.

After several bottles of olive oil and multiple applications the foster family was finally rid of the lice. They did like this treatment over other lice remedies that they have had to use in the past because they were not placing harsh chemicals on the children.

Articles on Lung Cancer

Both my grandfather and my father-in-law are suffering from lung cancer. Since two valuable members of our family have the disease we decided to find articles on lung cancer to help us understand the condition better. One of the best resources for finding information about health issues is Web MD. This site offers tons of articles on lung cancer.

Three of these articles on lung cancer were extremely helpful to our family in dealing with the respiratory disease. These three pieces of journalism involve typical questions and concerns that many people face when discovering that they have this frightening disease. Web MD has many more articles about cancer as well but the five I discuss here were outstanding.

The first of the articles on lung cancer that we came across on Web MD was about dealing with the side effects of chemo therapy. One of our biggest concerns for our family members is their reaction to the powerful treatment for cancer that has such difficult effects on the body.

My grandfather complains that the treatment is worse than the disease. The information we discovered through the essay was extremely helpful in helping us understand and deal with the harsh side effects of chemo therapy. This was one of the most important articles on lung cancer we found.

Another great piece involved 10 questions that every patient who has the condition should ask his doctor. When you read articles on lung cancer you realize that you overlook so many questions when you visit your physician. This piece really helped us organize a list of concerns and inquiries for the doctors.

After reading the two articles on lung cancer we decided to do a little more research into the topic to see if there were cutting-edge treatments for the respiratory disease that afflicts so many individuals. We found an article about radiofrequency ablation or RFA. This treatment for cancer uses heat to treat early tumors.

The combined therapy essay provided us great information for this cutting edge treatment for cancer. The RFA approach uses heat to destroy tumors but they do have to be in the early stages of the condition for it to work effectively. Radiofrequency ablation is also used in combination with chemo therapy, not as an independent treatment.

The three articles on lung cancer that we found on Web MD were very useful in helping us gain an understanding of what to do for severe side effects of chemo therapy. We found a list of questions to ask the doctors and we discovered new combined therapy that is used to treat the disease.

There is so much more to learn. Fortunately, Web MD has many more articles on lung cancer for us to study.

Using Chinese Tonic Herbs

If you have begun using herbs to achieve an all natural lifestyle for you and your family, you will want to investigate the uses and applications of Chinese tonic herbs and how they can improve your family’s well being. One of the best ways to ingest herbs for maximum potency is by mixing them with water and drinking it as a tonic. This simple solution has helped millions of people achieve the health they deserve, besides giving them more joy for life. The Chinese culture is full of simple herbal tonics that can be used for multiple purposes, from aiding the body in detoxification, as a treatment for eczema or just to help you relax after work.

One example of a Chinese tonic herb is called Rising Moon, commonly known as Four Things.  It is a women's tonic used for centuries in China. It cleanses and strengthens the blood, balances the hormones, tonifies the reproductive organs and kidneys, and helps regulate the menstrual cycle.

Shizandra is another one of the great herbal tonics of all time. It has all five flavors in it and is an excellent tonic, noted for increasing and containing sexual juices, for its ability over time to beautify the skin, and for overall rejuvenation of the body. Lychii berries combines with shizandra like peas in a pod. Lychii gives sweetness, helps increases happiness and improves eyesight. Both Shizandra and lychii berries are good for the liver (Shizandra has been reported to detox heavy metals and toxins from the liver).

Chinese tonic herbs are easy to find. If you are lucky enough to have a health food store within a convenient distance from your home, you would be able to find a lot of various tonics available there, besides getting valuable information from the newsletters or pamphlets available for free. You could ask the employees which Chinese tonic herbs are the most popular with their other customers, or what the benefits or uses of each one would be.

If you don’t have a health food store locally, or they have a poor selection of Chinese tonic herbs, you could also try an online search to find companies that would be able to take your order online and mail you the herbal tonics within a few days. Often times, you will find a brief description of each herbal product that will tell you what they are best used for, and the best way to mix them in the tonic. If you have any questions or just like to speak to someone directly when placing an order, look for an 800 number on the company’s website that would allow you to call and place your order.

You may also want to consult with a dietician to get the most benefit from using Cinese tonic herbs. As a dietician, they have studied the effects that herbs have on our bodies, and they are able to quickly guide you to the solution you need.

What can be done to prevent hair loss or hair thinning?

hair loss

ameyonline23 asked what can be done to prevent hair loss?

I am a 20 year old boy from goa-india and i am having trouble with my hair. My hair is naturally very soft & smooth but there has been tremendous increase in hair loss for past year.  My hair started to fall maybe about 3 years ago but it was just minor but now suddenly it is at a very fast rate.  My hair is perfect on the side parts and also behind the head and also on the front of head but the problem is on top of the head or middle of the head and around crown of the head.

That's where i am losing lots of hair.  What should i do to stop it?  What is the reason for the hair loss?  How can i regrowth the hair? I have recently showed it to a dermatologist who has told me to use MINTOP FORTE(MINOXIDIL TOPICAL SOLUTION USP 5%).

He has told me that it is a slow process and it would take around 4 months to see the regrowth effect but he didn't told me reason for the hair loss.  Is the solution prescribed by the Dermatologist an ideal and perfect for me? Is it a good solution for hair problems?

There are many reasons for hair loss one could be hereditary (genetics).  My father started losing his hair in his late twenties and early thirties.  I am a female and is having problems growing my hair and I use to have a head full of hair also.   So start asking question about your family history.  Also stress, diet, allergies and hormone imbalances could play a roll in hair loss. Learn How to Regrow Lost Hair Naturally

Causes for Hair Loss

How's the dew looking these days? Is it just as thick, shiny and vibrant as it was back in high school? Or, are you starting to reflect sunlight off your head? That's always a major bummer. No one likes to say bye bye to their snazzy dew. For some it's their best feature in the first place. Regardless, there is not a lot we can do with the old gene pool. After all, this is probably one of the primary causes for hair loss. However, there are several ways to battle this affliction once it rears its ugly head. First of all, most likely one of the greatest causes for hair loss is genetics. So, how can you tell if you will lose your head fuzz? It has a lot to do with your family tree. You'll want to check out your grandfather. Your mother's father to be more specific. How was his hair looking the last time you saw him? If he's 70 years old with a full head of hair, then that's a pretty good sign. This is basic biology, folks. Now, if your mother's father passed away at a young age, then there may be nothing to go on. I used to look at my father and wonder if I would lose my dew, but I still haven't after 30 years. Not to say that it won't happen, but it's looking good so far. However, for the longest time, I thought his baldness would have an impact on me, but it shouldn't according to science. Then there are a few other causes for hair loss. One of the major ones being stress. Yes indeed, stress can often be the culprit of a thinning hair dew. What does this tell you? Well duh! It tells you to take life as it comes and don't worry about things. Worrying won't benefit you in any way regardless.

For more information on causes for hair loss, you can get on the World-Wide-Web for a closer look. Sort through a variety of new-age treatments and remedies for thinning hair. Maybe you're looking to do something about your hair loss. Hey, the sooner the better.

The Latest and Greatest Baldness Treatments

Are you a hair person? When I ask this I am basically questioning your love for hair. Or, possibly lack there of. Although the majority of human beings seem to love a health head of hair, I have certainly met a few who prefer it bald. I guess baldness treatments are not needed for these folks. So, where do you stand on this issue? Do you feel insecure or inadequate without a full head of fuzz or does bushy hair just get in your way? I think those who prefer none are rather fortunate. Many men feel like they have to keep that full head of hair for all eternity or face becoming a pariah. For those who feel this way, there are a number of great contemporary baldness treatments.

Do you know of the latest and greatest baldness treatments? If you ask your family doctor, I'm sure you could get the scoop on several. Or, better yet, you could visit a trichologist and get a more specific rundown of actual procedures and success rates. The wonderful aspect of losing your dew now days is the ability to get it back. There are more baldness treatments now than ever before. It's kind of funny when I think about it. I have always seen my father as a bald man. Apparently he had hair, but I was just too young to remember it. I believe he lost it back when I was 4 or 5. However, I never heard him speak of baldness treatments. Now, this could be due to the fact that it was 20 years ago and not a lot was available. On the other hand, it could have simply been that he didn't care. Believe it or not, not everyone cares a great deal about hair. I think a lot of it has to do with our own securities. Do you feel secure without a stylish dew? I personally cannot say at this point since I still have my full head of hair.

If what you're looking for are baldness treatments, then you may also want to try getting on the World-Wide-Web. The Internet is a great place to begin your search for baldness treatments. Virtually everything out there can be discovered and read about in cyberspace. If you're not sure what websites to view, you can always check out the basic ones such as WebMD.com. This is the perfect website for medical/cosmetic issues like baldness treatments. Get online now to learn more.
