How can you find and contact an alternative all natural health care practioners in the state of Maine? Who would you contact for naturopathy, herbalist, homeopathy, and colonist? Please help me with this question this is a search that I am really continuing to do and it is not an easy search to look for all natural all alternative health care practioners in the state of Maine?

You can start by checking at the local health food stores and asking who they’d recommend.

Trinity College has a nation-wide ND program and lists their graduates by state on their web site www.trinityschool.org.

To find a homeopath, you can check at www.homeopathy.org. They also list practitioners by state on their web site.

Question by Thomas K: Can I purchase a true aromatherapy set?
My buddy had asthma since he was a baby. He recently enlisted in the Marine Corps. Before he left for boot camp he went to an aromatherapist. He said for about an hour a week he would meditate with these aromatherapy oils and now he has no asthma. I don’t have asthma but i was wondering if it were possible to get a hold of these oils. I like to keep fit and I thought this would help with my cardiovascular.

Alternative Health does not mean how to use / abuse illegal, over the counter or prescription drugs to get high. Alternative health questions should be about acupuncture, homeopathy, herbs, vitamin supplements, shiatsu, hypnosis etc. Would anyone else like to see a Miscellaneous category under Health questions for drug use related questions?
Perhaps Yahoo should consider a better filtering system for drug use questions? Perhaps they should be automatically assigned to the Health – Other category?

I don’t think that’s a good idea. It would not help.

It’s also not a good idea to post suggestions here as it won’t be seen by anyone who can do something about it. This is a category, just like all the others, which is only read by fellow Y!A users. Staff read the Suggestion Board. That’s found under the ABOUT tab at the top of the page.

Question by TALIA !: How do I choose a massage therapy course?
So I want to have be a nurse and have a massage therapy business on the side. I don’t want to spend more than a year doing my massage therapy course. I’ld like to do something in aromatherapy.

I’m quite confused as to which course I should choose. I think doing a diploma would be better than a certificate because I’ld get paid better, but there is such a wide range of courses that I’m confused.

Actually there is no Diploma of Massage nor any accreditation the warrants better paid to one therapist over another. This is a licensed art form and the only thing that warrants your level of pay is your clientele’s satisfaction and if they feel you’re worth what you ask.

Massage Therapy School could take any where from 6 to 24 mouth, depending on if you go full or part time and the number to hour needed to graduate. Usually between 400 to 12000 depending on the state that you’ve chosen to work in.

I would say to choose a modality’s that might work some what hand in hand with your nursing skills like ‘Neuromuscular Therapy’, which has pick up a lot of the slack that physical therapy has left behind. A website to get more information is : www.nmtcenter.com

Then my mother who is a maniac about homeopathy and doesn’t believe in medicine announced that she won’t take the cat to the vet even for neurological tests. Do you think that this is right? Hi! My 16-month old has a cough and runny nose. He had a fever only the first two days, but now it’s the 6th day and he has started to cough at night and during the day and clear fluid is persistently coming out of his nose. Is there a homeopathic medicine I can give him?

I don’t know of any homeopathic treatments, but these tips should help

-Don’t give him any dairy, it increases mucous production and will make his runny nose worse
-No sugar either, viruses feed on sugar and make them harder to fight off
-He should have lots of water and other clear fluids
-Make sure he is getting enough rest. If he is coughing at night, prop him up with extra pillows so he can breathe properly, or let him sleep in a car seat
-Chicken broth, crushed garlic and onion are all great for treating a cold. Boil them together, strain and let cool, then give him the broth to drink. It’s basically the equivalent of chicken noodle soup, but as a drink =)
