If you are suffering from acne you can be feeling a lot of different emotions. You might be annoyed, or you might be embarrassed. Whatever your emotions, essential oils can help.

Essential oil is a good treatment for working to fight acne. They can be very effective, and have less side effects than other acne ointments. Lets look at some great natural choices.

Bergamot – Bergamot has great anti-bacterial properties. It is very effective in treating skin breakouts. Bergamot should be diluted when using on the skin, however, because it can cause skin to be more sensitive to the sun.

Clove – Clove has strong anti-inflammatory properties, and very strong anti-fungal properties. Because it is a very strong anti-fungal it also should not be applied directly to the skin unless it is very diluted. It has worked to treat very bad cases of acne before, but should only be applied in small amounts.

Lavender – This oil, on the other hand, does not need a carrier oil. It can be applied directly on the acne. It works great with killing off acne bacteria, and can reduce the inflammation on the skin that acne causes.

Geranium – Geranium is a good choice with acne. It can help balance out your skin, and bring it back to its natural state. If you have an oil spot on your face that is adding to your acne, this can really help.

Tea Tree – Tea tree oil is very popular because of its anti-bacterial properties and versatility. It can fight acne, especially when added with other oils. It works great with stopping acne irritations and inflammation.

If you need a carrier oil with these essential oils, greasy skin does well with almond, apricot, and grape seed. Normal skin can use sesame, calendula, jojoba. Dry skin does great with with olive, avocado and wheat germ.

Are you really taking the best care of your skin? Many people don’t realize, but they are making some very common skin care mistakes that could cost them later in life. Read on to find out if you’re one of them.

Using bar soap on your face. This is a very big no no! A neutral pH facial soap like Dove is alright, but many people still use just regular hand soap for their daily facial cleansing. This can be very harsh on the skin, aging it before its time and causing it to dry out quicker.

Going to the spa for a facial. Did you realize that facials usually are more damaging than good for you? There are studies that show up to eighty percent of people have a big outbreak of zits right after they’ve had their beauty treatment! The biggest reason for this is the use of essential oils, which irritate the skin.

Not using SPF products on cloudy days. It doesn’t matter that there’s no actual sun shining on your skin . . . The UV rays are still there and they can still damage your body. This is something that most people neglect, so make a point of putting on sunscreen every time you go out, whether or not it’s sunny out. You can find moisturizers that have SPF built in if you prefer not to add another product to the list. This also ensures that you won’t forget.

Using too many skin care products. That’s right, you can often end up with too many products. You really just need the very basics, a cleanser and a moisturizer. Add in a bunch of other things and you risk causing more skin problems and ended up with bad reactions.

Using oily makeup. If your makeup is oil based, it could be causing those unpleasant outbreaks that you frequently face. There’s a good reason more and more people are turning to mineral makeup. It’s easier on the skin and will keep you a lot healthier looking. It may cost more, but you’ll look younger longer.

Don’t pop zits if you can help it. They are packed with bacteria which will spread and cause more zits to come out. Instead, leave the area alone if possible. If not, be sure to wash face and hands with soap and then wash again after you’ve removed the pimple. This technique helps to keep the contamination under wraps. You should also only tackle one zit at a time for safety.

When you wash your face and then your hair in the shower, you leave the residue from the hair products on the skin. This tends to cause irritations and it can also result in outbreaks. Your skin will look and feel better if you wash it after you do the hair.

Skin care doesn’t need to be too complicated and in many cases, people are just going overboard on the cleaning. There’s no need to scrub your face several times a day. Just two cleanings a day is usually plenty. Be sure to use soap that is formulated for your skin and leave it to breathe.
