Health | Why Have A Salt Lamp?

I first came across Himalayan Salt Lamps a five years ago when I went to a health spa in a seaside town in England.

In the spa was a small dark room with big soft chairs and quiet music playing. The only light came from several salt lamps that were dotted about the place. I sat in there and it was very soothing and peaceful. I have since bought loads of lamps and filled up most rooms in my house.

There is a lot said and written about these lamps, most of it to my mind is rubbish (but I am not a scientist).

You hear about people with asthma who could hardly breath and once they have a salt lamp in their house; all is well. For me the only way that Himalayan salt can help asthma suffers is by the use of Salt pipes where you actually breathe air into your lungs though salt. Or if you work and live down a salt mine where the very air is near enough salt. I do no see how putting a 4-kilo salt lamp in your living room is really going to help.

Another thing that you hear is how a salt lamp in your house will make the air in the room just like the air on a beach or right after a thunderstorm. As for me: I have been up the mountains of the moon in East Africa and been in really big storms on the plains of Texas and I can tell you, hand on heart, that my house is nothing like the air in those circumstances.

Then you hear talk of how a salt lamp next to your TV will suck up all the bad ions..Well I do not know about that and as far as I know you cannot see ions, so who can tell.

What I do know is that if I put a doughnut next to my TV I will soon have a room full of flies and if I put an onion next to the bed of somebody who has flu; then the onion will suck up the flu virus (this is a proofed fact because scientist has tested this and seen the virus on the onion which, by the way turns black in the night)

So why do I have Himalayan salt lamps in my home: because they are beautiful things and they bring a clam and peace to my soul.
