Just be careful has if not used correctly they can harm.
Only use 100% essential oils.
Lavender can sometimes cause mood swings re Answer one.
Maybe check in health food shop for advice.
I would Also recommend Bach Flower Remedies. Get a leaflet and read, you’ll be drawn to right one.
good Luck

Scents and moods are mostly subjective i.e. you should find a scent that is related to a pleasant memory. While I like the scent of wet pavement (associate it with the beginning of rain), most people find it pretty disgusting.
A few essentials do have medicinal properties, but they are relatively rare. The only one I know for sure is frankincense resin, which is a mild sedative. Most other scents’ effects are ‘in your head’.
Safe bets to start with are citrus and flower scents–few people have bad memories of that! If you can find a store in the area that carries perfume oils, walk in and ask to smell samples. These are usually pagan or New Age -themed stores. If you don’t have those, find a Yankee Candles store and sniff the candles. At a buck and change apiece it’s a relatively inexpensive way to scent a room and try out what you like.

I would contact an Aromatherapist. They would be able to help point you in the correct direction. Scent is personal and powerful. You could read up on it. There are several good aromatherpy books on the market.
I would stay away from artificial products and scents. They never seem to have the same results.
As for the idea that scents do not do anything or essential oils have no real properties, that is wrong. Many oils have been studied and show real effects.

Why don’t you treat yourself to an Aromatherapy massage by a qualified therapist?
- Neroli is a very good essential oil to use has no known contraindications.
- Milissa and Black pepper gives you the strength and helps you move on from a bad time etc, but don’t use black pepper if you have sensitive skin or milissa if you are on your period.
- Bergamont, Mandarin infact all the citris essential oils are good because of the amount of aldehydes in them they are uplifting. Don’t use these if you are going to go on a sunbed or live in a sunny area as they are photo sensitive and can have a burning senstion on your skin.
- Rose and Sandalwood are very good anti-depressants no known contraindications but don’t use in pregnancy to be extra careful.
You could make a blend of three drops of essential oil to 98% of a carrier oil example Grape seed and sweet almond.
You can add a few drops to bath but I recommend you add this to a liquid example milk so it doesn’t sink or float on the bath and you get more of the oil.
You can put 2-3 drops on a hanker chief but remember NEVER use more than 8 drops a day and make sure the chosen oil is 100% and not mixed with anything cheap.
I hope you feel better.

A good one is Bergmot. It is one of the best essential oils to help with depression.
You can put a few drops into milk and into you bath water.
Also you could put some in a oil burner and just inhale it and feel great.
If your on the go put a few drops on a tissue and carry it with you.
Any good herbal shops will stock good quailty essential oils.
All the best
If you want a good reference that had great oil reciepes for everything refer to ” The Fragrant Pharmacy” By Valerie Worwood.
