Hcg Plateau Questions Answered

Helen asks…

Can you be having an ectopic pregnancy if hcg levels plateau and then double?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Yes. Why would you think that you have an ectopic? Are you having pain?

Mark asks…

I hit a plateau on my hcg diet so I had an apple day. I gained almost 2 pounds, what do I do?

Chloe Adisson answers:

Stay the course, I also had a few gain days when I was on the drops from prohcgdiet.com but after a few days would have a huge weight loss day. Two things that can stall your weight loss or actually make you gain weight are salt and not drinking enough water. Salt is the major culprit as it makes you retain water. Just stick with the diet and you will see a huge drop very soon, I promise!

Sharon asks…

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HIT THE PLATEAU ON THE HCG DIET?

Chloe Adisson answers:

By plateau do you mean not losing weight? Or do you mean to level off and adjust to the diet?

I’ll answer both:

1. Stalled Weight Loss: You weight loss can stall for a number of reasons and tends to happen 10-20 days into the diet. The most liekllikelyes are: menstmenstruale for women, cheating, not enough water, not enough calories (must eat 500 per day), and the normal process of Ketosis. Ketosis is the fat burning process and it tends to work in 2-3 day cycles. You may go 2-3 days and not see much weight fall off and then walk up and drop 1-3lbs overnight.

2. It takes 3-5 days to initially adjust to the diet, it cant ake as much as 7 days to really get adjusted. Some factors can delay this process like Candida (Yeast) Overgrowth.

Hope this helps, check out my blog for more info.

Lizzie asks…

HCG levels hit plateau, is there anyway i can stay pregnant or is this inevitable miscarriage?

After three years of trying to get pregnant, including one year of fertility treatments I found out I was pregnant. I had my first appointment at 9 weeks. They done an ultrasound and said that the embryo only measured 6 weeks one day, no visable heartbeat. The Dr said that i could be wrong on my dates or it is an inevitable miscarriage. That day we done hcg it was 25,000 and two days later they were 26,000. She also said progesterone was low but did not give me a number. The day of the appointment they put me on prometrium. When she called to tell me the hcg was only 26,000 she said that I would miscarry and needed to have a d & c done right away. My pregnancy symptoms dissapeared a few days before the appointment,( 4 days ago), but are coming back today. I’m sure the dr is probably right but that little voice inside me says “what if”. Is there any chance that the HCG could stall and then take off again? The d & c is in two days and they said they would do another ultrasouond then
I also have no signs of miscarriage. No pain, no bleeding, no spottting.

Chloe Adisson answers:

There’s still a slight chance that it’s OK – otherwise they wouldn’t say they were going to do the ultrasound before performing the D&C. Make sure they do that but don’t get your hopes up. The doctor would have seen a lot of cases like this before, and would know how they usually turn out…

The return of your pregnancy symptoms could be a good sign, or it could be due to the promentrium. A miscarriage doesn’t always happen on the day that the pregnancy fails. It can take a couple of weeks before you have any idea of it or can even not happen at all (a missed miscarriage).

I’m sorry you’re going through this. You’re probably not ready to hear this now, but miscarriages in the first trimester are quite common, and are usually unavoidable and just bad luck. It doesn’t mean that it will necessarily happen again. At least it has shown that you can fall pregnant, there’s still hope. I hope that it all works out OK for you.

Chris asks…

Question about hcg levels?

This is not happening to me, but I was wondering. I know when your hcg levels plateau or drop it means an impending miscarriage but how long after that happens do you actually miscarry?

Chloe Adisson answers:

It depends. Some people miscarriage first, then their levels drop, others have the levels drop then miscarriage weeks later, some woman don’t have a typical miscarriage with bleeding etc, and need a mild surgery (D&C) to remove everything.

It all depends on the woman. After a miscarriage and proper care of it, bleeding can last up to 2 weeks though.
