Carol asks…

Herbal treatments..?

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone ever tried herbal treatments to treat failing kidneys? My sister has fsgs and she was told that her kidneys are only functioning 20% and she will need a transplant or dialysis soon.

Chloe Adisson answers:

I have FSGS and i have never taken . I asked my doctor about it once and he said do not do chinese herbs and those types of things. They are not regulated whats in them and a lot of the things in them are harmful to the kidneys. Please consult a doctor before doing anything like that.

I was almost put on the transplant list but i got better and now my kidneys are functioning normally.

I take prograf, calcium, iron, vitamin D, aspirin, enalipril, diamox, bumex, prednisone. I used to take epogen shots as well but i am not anemic anymore

keep fighting and i wish her good luck. I know what she is going through

Ken asks…

Do herbal treatments of HIV actually work?

Has anyone witnessed first hand the benefits of herbal treatments. There are a lot of claims on the internet. How can I be sure they are real?

Chloe Adisson answers:

The vast majority of herbal remedies on the internet or anywhere else are usually just outright scams, the beauty of modern medicines is that each product has to pass extremely stringent clinical trials which can be reproduced anywhere in the world before it can be prescribed by a fully qualified doctor..

Anyone can sell herbal remedies (I’m not saying that they’re all bad or that none of them work) with no training whatsoever, the preparation, packaging and storage of herbs have no controls, they don’t go through any regulatory trials, they don’t need a licence and some of them can be positively harmful.

As for HIV, the only known treatment is antiviral products, none of which are herbal.

Mark asks…

Can acne be cured by any herbal treatments?

Hello, I am 25 years old female and facing problems of acne. I have done lots and lots of things to make it cure but always get failure in that. I also tried many allopathic treatments but the major problem remained as it is and side effects also joined it. I want to ask that if acne can be cured by any herbs or any kind of herbal treatments. Please give your suggestions. This acne is really making me irritating and frustrating. My bad looks are the result of this acne. Help me out.

Chloe Adisson answers:

Oh! Don’t get upset, I think it is problem of every second girl next to you. There are many ways that can help you to cure the disease but a way that suits you and is not one of the scams to cure them should be adopted. It is better to refer to an online guide

Can Herbal treatments by a naturopathic dr help with Hepatitis d?

My girlfriend may start taking interferon treatments and I was wondering if herbal treatments would interfere with the interferon treatments
the person i would be getting the herbs from is a naturopathic doctor, with a degree in such

Chloe Adisson answers:

First off, your girlfriend should ask the doctor that prescribed the interferons. They know what they’re talking about, and probably see lots of people with liver problems, and will be able to give a sensible answer. The doctor will have been trained in pharmacology, and will know all about how drugs interact with each other in the body. On the other hand, the herb-seller (they are not doctors) won’t have had the same training. The herbs they sell won’t have had to pass the same strict regulations that medicinal drugs do, and so their effects on the body (and especially the liver, something to think about in an individual with hepatitis!) may not be fully known.

I’d say avoid the herbs altogether.
