Thyme Essential Oil History and Significant Uses
We may heard more frequently how essential oils work on our way, enabling our peaceful haven to cover us from the harsh treatment of the world we have. But what we get accustomed to is that essential oils are merely vaporizers at home, not knowing that they are useful in many ways. Thyme essential oil takes hold of the significance of each essential oil nowadays.
The thyme oil is carefully extracted by steam distillation from Thymus Vulgaris that belongs to the Labiatae plant family, this oil has been commonly known as red thyme. Its aroma contains strong, sweet smell and red to amber in color. It is therefore one of the ancient herb being used by Egyptians and Greeks ages ago, this perennial herb can grow up to 18 inches high with its root in woody appearance plus small greenish aromatic leaves and white flowers. The Egyptians also used it to embalm bodies. And surprisingly, this oil has been used by the soldiers during Middle Ages to top-up courage and strength throughout the war and while the herb of it was brought during court hearings to drive off diseases, powerful isn’t it? And who would have thought that during those times when refrigerator was not yet invented, this essential oil has been used in preserving foods because it has preservative and purification qualities that makes it unique and cool. And the Romans hundreds of decades ago, uses this essential oil during bath time because it uplifts your soul making you more refreshing after taking a bath.
And though this essential oil has its sweet aroma, it can possibly irritate the skin especially those who have sensitive skin. It has also been known for its great help when a person needs concentration and focus especially at work, when someone wants to finish things up before the deadline, then be ready to wrap up the paperworks and beat the deadline right away. It has also a good healing effect on colds, asthma and bronchitis and other related illnesses. It is also useful in treating arthritis and gout with its subtle qualities.
When its own unique way in working with us, Thyme essential oil has been always famous for its subtle qualities, in any way, effectiveness of this depends on the use a person makes.
