One of the things I’ve noticed about the ARNPs that have treated me: I think their nursing training has better prepared them as communicators. They do a better job of listening, and picking up on what I’m saying (or not saying). That is a big part of diagnostics and treatment – knowing what is *really* going on with patients. Nurses tend to be better at that.

Leona, I would suggest you find the hospital's financial couselor, accounts payable department or cashier. Explain your situation to them and try to get a “work out” arrangement where you agree to pay $XX.00 a month.

Most hospitals understand the situation and would rather be paid something rather than nothing.
