What Are My Options On HCG Diet Plans?

Share

plans have resulted in dramatic weight loss for people who have struggled with weight issues for years. It is true that there are specific protocols which must be followed in order for the program to be effective; however, within these parameters, you have numerous options.

A Short History of HCG

“Human Chorionic Gonadotropin,” or HCG, is a hormone. Like other hormones, its function is to regulate certain physiological processes in the human body. Specifically, HCG is associated with pregnancy; this particular hormone helps to maintain optimal conditions in the uterus for the developing fetus and may also play a part in protecting the fetus should the mother become malnourished (normally, the mother’s body would take nutrients away from the fetus).

The current use of HCG as an adjunct to a reduced calorie diet was first studied in the 1950s by British endocrinologist Dr. A.T. Simeons. While conducting research in India on obese patients with pituitary gland dysfunction and malnourished expectant mothers, he found that small does of this hormone caused the body to use up fat reserves to maintain normal metabolism.

As experienced dieters know all too well, cutting calories usually causes the body’s metabolism to slow to a crawl in attempts to conserve fat reserves. Dr. Simeon’s treatment addresses this problem by reprogramming the brain center that controls metabolism, forcing it to supply the body with extra calories stored in fat cells.

Eating Right on

In addition to daily doses of HCG (which may be injected or taken orally ” see below), it is necessary to cut one’s caloric intake by approximately 2/3rds ” meaning around 500 calories a day. The foods you will eat are primarily protein-based, with minimal fat content; in addition, you will need to avoid certain oil-based skin products and cosmetics.

Proteins consist of lean meats, primarily chicken and turkey and cold water fish such as wild salmon, trout and cod. Although oil-frying is out, you have several options of how these foods are prepared. In addition, you will learn to enjoy fresh, unprocessed foods such as leafy and cruciferous vegetables (root vegetables should be avoided) as well as berries and tree fruits. In short, if it grows above the ground, its fair game.

People on HCG diet plans report very little in the way of hunger or deprivation after the first day or so.

Injections vs. Oral Suspension

There is some controversy over form of HCG is preferable. It should be noted that the oral form of HCG is produced in the U.S.A. under strict safety controls and is much easier and economical to obtain. In addition, most people are understandably reluctant to stick a neddle into themselves two or three times a day.

The Brad @ 12:44 pm:

Hmm to be honest I suggest you keep with it, I'm also currently on HcG but it's straight herbal, lost 25 lbs, in 15 days, but stopping to redo it will most likely gain a couple lbs with it. If you don't mind being set back a couple days go for it, but procrastination of a diet is kinda what leads people on this. Gotta tough it out and keep going.

That's why it is better not to do that stuff. Just diet and exercise.
