Is Hcg Diet Safe?
Promising slimmer’s the advantages of being able to lose 40lbs in 40 days; the HCG diet consists of injecting your body with the HCG hormone which is commonly produced during pregnancy.
Accompanied by a 500 a day diet, slimmer’s can easily follow this simple diet for up to 40 days at a time as long as they have a 6 week break in-between to ensure that their body does not become immune to the product.
How does it work?
According to dieticians the glycoprotein hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin, is supposedly produced in the placenta during pregnancy. Designed to provide the foetus with nutrition whenever the mother is not eating enough; this unique hormone works by harnessing the mother’s stored fat content and converting into glucose.
And now available in an injection and homeopathic form, the HCG diet works by tricking your body into believing it is pregnant ” when it is not ” and making it believe you are starving. By consuming only 500 calories a day this triggers the hormone which starts tapping into your stored fat and converting about lb to a lb of fat every day into nutrition.
Is it safe?
Whilst there are strict guidelines to using this weight loss method, such as making sure you use it for at least 23 days (to ensure weight is not regained) to having a 6 week gap between every 40 week cycle (to prevent immunity against the hormone), only the homeopathic form is approved by the FDA.
Despite this approval by the FDA, there are still disputes many disputes surrounding the homeopathic form as it contains a non-active version of HCG which is less effective than the injection.
However, with no medical backing by the FDA to support this injection version, it is hard to trust the quality of this weight loss method on your long term health. Especially as it is advised that you should not buy it online, and that you must seek medical advice first before you try this prescription drug.

I run with fat people. Often. Most of them bitch and cry about how exercise doesn’t work. The ones that keep coming out exercising with me, even at my broken-ass-hole-in-my-spine running speed of not-very-fast start losing weight. Then they gain some, then they lose some more. They yo-yo like anyone who’s ever had to lose weight without just starving. Your body adds muscle and craves more food, you actually eat more than you started with and the weight of the muscle packs on. Some quit after they lose twenty or thirty pounds, some go on. One got stomach stapling surgery and lost 250lbs.
