Confessions Of A Yoga Instructor
The following are questions that Yoga teachers still need to answer, in spite of overpowering proof that Yoga is “the mother of all health maintenance systems.” Mainstream thought is finally making up ground, with the progress Yoga is making, but it has taken 5,000 years for us to get this far.
Seriously, how do Yoga Allow you to Lose Weight?
Ultimately, some of the “Yoga and Weight Loss” research has come in, and even, a little bit of Yoga is much better, than none, for weight control, yet there are a lot of reasons why. Yoga will change your lifestyle that includes a secure diet exercise, modifying posture, breathing, and a lot more. The majority of the Yoga practitioners, I know of consume more water, eat more moderately, and take more proper care of their health, compared to the many who don’t want to leave the couch.
Aren’t you required to jump up and down for around half an hour per day to exercise enough to lose weight naturally?
Maybe the public are “brain washed” in thinking that you have to feel the pain, suffer, starve, and also have a near death encounter, to lose weight. Depending upon your size, the average person, in a moderate Hatha yoga class, is burning in the neighborhood of 200 calories per hour. There are Vinyasa Yoga classes which will burn more calories, having a lot more flowing and lively movement. Just remember, that your safety is priority, and you’ll be fine.
There are also Yoga lessons where you can feel the pain, heat, and suffer. This is great for people who want to “pay for their sins.” Maybe this is considered “penance,” for years of consuming excessive pizza, hamburgers, and buffets. If you feel you must suffer, you may even find a Yoga instructor who skipped his or her calling as an interrogator.
If you search hard enough, you will find a Yoga class for each area of interest. More reasonable Yoga lessons look easy on the exterior of the class, but I’ve seen many people see them to be a concern, from within the class. The true advantage of regular Yoga practice is training for longevity. Long-term practice can deliver ideal health benefits in mind, body, and spirit.
Couldn’t you just invent a Yoga pill?
It has been the ultimate dream of “couch potatoes,” yet every time a weight reduction tablet comes out, there is a down side. Just look at the health issues that lead from fen phen and ephedra. This should wake people up, but someone will invariably take their life in danger, no matter how many warning labels are printed.
In summary, the advantages of Yoga exercise have always been around, through steady and safe practice. Look for a safe teacher and start from there. Never press yourself to the stage of strain. Moderation is the key so it’s a good idea to prevent opposites.

Hi guys, Ive read all your comments and am truly inspired by all your progress! Wow . You guys are rock stars! I am looking to lose about 30lbs. I have done this program awhile ago and lost 7lbs. I tried again but my biggest problem is discipline and sticking to it. I tried again several times but would mess up, get discouraged, and start over…and over and over. So this time, since I seem to need variety, will try Beyond Calories. It seems like a lot of eating but you have to eat small enough meals so as to not get full. About 6 meals! Will Im game. I am 167 right now. OK this is the first day of Cycle 2. Has anyone had as great as sucess as they have on this regular program that most of you seem to be one! Also this program doesnt say anything about water, walking, or what to expect – just “enormous weight loss”. We’ll see. Ok bye and good luck to everybody!

I enjoy it, it's relaxing – as pastimes are.
Seriously, if you're wondering how people have 10-20 mins or so of spare time to do the odd sudoku, crossword, etc, then it might be your own time you need to re-evaluate.
