Yes, being mentally healthy is definitely possible. The thing is, bad things will always happen-that's the nature of life but an emotionally healthy person will have good coping mechanisms and negative events and periods don't have to drag a person's whole life down generally.

I do know people who have very good luck, starting with being born into very wealthy, stable family lives which gave them a good start to life, they went to good school then good universities and don't have to money worries. Some people don't like to initiate change in their life and stay in their comfort zone. That also reduces going through tough times as they don't expose themselves to challenging situations which have potential to cause stress or go wrong. No one can avoid bad times fully though.

Many people experience mild mental health problems during their life and overcome it. Even with severe and enduring mental illness people can learn to manage symptoms and have a good quality of life in spite of them.

At your age the things you talk about experiencing are perfectly normal, so don't worry. You talk about about your technique of coping with things so keep on with that. Just enjoy and make the most of good times. Talk to someone responsible you trust if you need support. Things will become more settled as you get older :)

I live in Olympia and it was all over the news. The lady actually got her kid taken away then stole him from the hospital when no one was looking. They finally found him and just recently gave him to his father. They thought he was going to die because he was so sick, in the intensive care and she took off with him and disapeared. It was so sad. I was so worried about the poor baby. I dont understand why some people think their 10th grade education is far better than a doctors! Its ridiculous!

Hi Angela,

I'm sorry you're experiencing such severe panic attacks. And, I'm so glad you've reached out for help. The help is there.

Panic attacks can be caused by so many things.

Hope this part of my struggle in my journey can help you know that you're not alone in feeling this way.

I've not blogged in a while. I should probably blog an update about where things are at with me soon. My panic attacks are diminishing but other issues are surfacing which are far more alien to me. Still hard to articulate.

Hang in there.

It is never as clear cut I feel. Yes it would be convenient for many to have this diagnosis but sociopath has same qualities and psychopath overlap in traits also. Pathological to me is a good diagnosis after that the lines sometimes become blurred. Hence the expression "a nasty piece of work."

Try these alternative health practices, a way of staying healthy and fit. I have tried many ways but this one is something, I was inspired to create CYH (CreateYourHealth) as a way to empower you to take responsibility for your life. This site gives a lot of information regarding health alternative choices. You will enjoy everything about it, specially their topics about alternative health practices, vinyasa flow yoga, ear coning, prolotherapy, dynamic psychotherapy and neurofeedback.

This is a question that only your doctor can answer, go to them and ask if you are fit to drive, if they say yes then ask that it be noted on your records for evidence. If they say no (for any reason) then you shouldnt be allowed to drive.

A part of a previous answer follows: Realise that although your conscious mind knows that death lies in the far distant future, the part of your brain which is conscious is like an iceberg, with the vast bulk of the subconscious mind supporting it.

Unfortunately, to the subconscious mind, everything is in the present tense – "NOW", so whenever you think about your ultimate demise, it considers it as an immediate threat to your continued existence, and may well deal with it in its usual manner, by activating the very ancient "fight or flight" response. It also is unable to deal with negatives well, if at all, so it's far better to learn to use positives when dealing with it. ~~~

The "fight or flight" response evolved many millions of years ago; the massive surge of adrenaline enabled short periods of speed and strength. It was a survival trait which is required little in modern life, but is implanted deep in the brain, and it needs specialised techniques to avoid, or cope with it.

I have a weblink that I believe may well provide further help, (about effective natural treatment for panic attacks) but if I include it here, this answer may be removed by Y!A for promoting a personal website with no direct relevance to the actual question asked, so email me if interested.
